British soldiers wore helmets too, it just depended on what situation they were in at any given time. The British soldiers in this episode were being rescued by Easy Company, so maybe they didn't expect to need helmets. Sometimes there were strategic reasons for not wearing helmets too, for example in a raid at night when you would not want German lights reflecting off your helmets. There are times in the series when you see members of Easy Company wearing berets or no head cover instead of helmets too.
