Rebecca did not still own 51% of the team at the start of this season... she had that much equity at the end of S3, but that was three years before start of the current season. Presumably she sold some of her equity to launch the women's team, but still retaining a larger equity share than any other individual shareholder, keeping her in the position of principal owner (giving her operational control of the team). It's not uncommon for professional sports team owners to own less than a majority of a team, but the reason they get designated principal owner is because their stake is larger than anyone else's. They own a plurality of the shares. In any event, going into this episode, Zelda had already acquired 49% of the team's equity, and was under the assumption that she had also acquired the Milk sisters' stake, which would have put her over 50%. The Milk sisters owned 2.9% of the team (this was stated in S1), and Mae owned 2% of the team, so this is the equity breakdown at the start of this episode: Zelda Southport: 49% Rebecca Welton: 46.1% Milk Sisters: 2.9% Mae Green: 2% When Higgins revealed that the Milk sisters had actually sold their stake to Rebecca, that brought her up to 49% equity, matching Zelda's 49% equity. Mae bequeathing her 2% pushed Rebecca to 51% ownership. So she is again the majority owner, but Zelda is nearly an equal partner now. When Ted said, "I wanted to talk to you about the recently opened manager position", he wasn't talking about the men's team. He wasn't even aware that Roy was leaving when he first walked into Rebecca's office. Ted wanted to be able to spend more time with Henry, so he had already decided that he wanted to step back a little, and he knew how much Alice wanted the manager position and how much she deserved it, so Ted proposed to Rebecca that he take a demotion to assistant manager and that Alice be named as the new head coach. As for future seasons, Sudeikis and Hunt definitely both want to continue the story if Apple gives them the opportunity, but they wrote the ending of this season in such a way that if does wind up being the conclusion of the series that fans don't feel like they got left with a bunch of unresolved cliffhangers. So there may or may not be a S5, it's really up to Apple right now. Sudeikis has said that he envisions the story of the Lady Greyhounds being another three season arc, but it's all kind of up in the air right now.

Screentime with Phil and Erika

Ahh that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the clarification on the shares. Haha it’s really weird that the Milk sisters keep selling. They really don’t want to have ownership. And yes — totally forgot he had that conversation with Henry. Taking on the men’s team would definitely not free up more time haha. As for navigating both a potential series end + new season — I think they did a pretty good job. Either would make sense.
