This is the full set, including images I can't share on other platforms. The light outside the chateau was changing with the wind. The bruised clouds were scattered over the sky and caused a patchwork of shade and light that was unpredictable. It was also trying to rain so we went inside the grand building. Victoria had seen me shoot with my portable flash gun and was keen to create a set with its edgy light. I explained it gave off the ‘after party’ vibe. Images seen in the back of magazines showing people, often celebrities after a big event having a few drinks. That inspired Victoria to find an outfit that suited such an event, an evening dress and something a bit edgy. I closed the curtains of the big living room as the midday light would still come and go and we were suddenly in the dark. The music from my laptop completing the illusion that we were in some grand nightclub. We used the eclectic furnishings as props, Victoria quickly finding her groove. Soon we weren’t taking photos, I was simply capturing her at an imaginary launch party. Inspired by her red tights, I used a red bedsheet and my clips as an alternate background. The nightclub now had a chill out space. I’ve always enjoyed editorials, a set of images that tell a story. But perhaps the best part is they would give you the freedom to work with the subject, take pictures that showcased them as much as the outfits they wore, even if the reportage style might feel less scripted than a fashion set. To do that you have to know and trust each other. Victoria has an inherent enthusiasm that washed aside the fact that we’d only just met. The trust formed in the moment and we just enjoyed following each other’s instincts. In summary, Victoria is a bit of a legend and we had a lot of fun creating these.
