I remember when you guys once told me this is hell you're walking into....I should've listened

Jarm957

Holy shit that deep dive was an hour an a half!? It felt was shorter live.

IKR?! It did not feel that long at all! I swear I've had moments where a 20 minute episode would feel super long but this was so damn interesting it felt like 30 mins

Just gonna say to you that the longer Lostbelts, like 5 and 6, are around 15-20 hours each, so just playing the Lostbelts is way longer than playing the whole original Stay Night VN.

And that's only the duration of the content itself. I can't even imagine talking over it. Easily doubling the time if not more

In the Nasuverse, parallel universes aren't really infinite, as existence could not sustain all of them. Because of that, timelines that diverge too greatly from our timeline, which we call Proper Human History, are pruned. This is what's known as the Parallel World Theorem. Essentially a Lostbelt is a parallel universe in which humanity's history greatly diverge from ours at some point, leading to a whole new continuity for humanity. These Lostbelts should have indeed been pruned by the universe, but an outside force has made 7 Lostbelts collide with our timeline and they're now competing with each other to overwrite our world. I know this is very strange to visualize, but in the game what happens is that 7 domes appear at different spots in our planet. Inside, area covered by said dome is indeed Earth, but the Earth of a different timeline, in which many MANY things have gone wrong in their history.

Kaleidoscope

all the confusion in the first 30 minutes could've easily been avoided if someone explained that the reason the Lostbelts are all on our planet at once is because each one is a different region thats trying to overwrite the existence of our world with theirs.

37:20 my username is based on Zelretch

Just watch otakudaikuns series on all the lostbelts. Hearing the story told in order might help

Yeah, watching it, could have been pretty clear from the start if they mentioned that the lostbelts don't overlap geographically.

Lex Garrett

If you understood all that, maybe we should make you watch Moonlight/Lostroom after all...

Quinton Macejkovic

44:50 I don't think that's how that works. The pruned worlds are incapable of progress, not because they became perfect and therefore can't go further, but because something happened in them that caused humanity in them to stagnate. Imagine an alternate reality in which the transistor was never invented, that humanity is now stuck having to deal with life without the possibility of modern electronics. Alaya would prune that world in favor of ours, because our humanity is still on track to progressing, and therefore is worth investing the resources of keeping our universe around to have a future.

Quinton Macejkovic

@53:20 Quantum Time locks are placed after the event occurs, and the world retroactively deletes all timelines that don't contain that event.

Quinton Macejkovic

@01:02:30 Singularities happen in different moments of a timeline (Fuyuki in 2004, the 100 years war in Orleans, France; Rome during the 1st century; Ancient Mesopotamia, etc.); while the Lostbelts all happen in the present, but have a different history from each other.

Yea I definitely noticed later that some stuff could've been told in a much easier way and also in the correct order LOL but it's fine I still enjoyed the ride and you guys get to see me confused af

I really like how you mentioned "but the Earth of a different timeline"!!! That's the most important key detail which clears a lot of confusion. I was also immediately able to visualize everything from your description. It's like if I have a dome here in Canada in the year 2024 but lets say you're in the UK and there's a dome on you but you're in a time period where cars never existed so you're riding horses.

Now you can rewatch the post-credits scene from fate strange fake whispers of dawn and understand half of what Zelretch is talking about when he says he doesn’t want to intervene in the fake holy grail war since it will eliminate all other possible future paths by locking history into place.

If you said the concept is peak. The reasons behind why each world is pruned is even more peak. Those reasons can be some of the most trivial things to the most logical thing ever. But I kid you not, they are not absurd at all. You can even look at it and think about it psychologically, realistically, politically.
