I don't know if anyone told you before but you should hv know already. soul reaper has other skill beside zanpakuto call "kido" which is something like spirit control or magic stuff. And there are different type of Kido Hado: which mean break style usually use on attack move Bakudo: which mean bind style usually aim on defend or some special trick e.g. 1st episode Rukia use a bakudo to restrict Ichigo from moving around. You have to shout out the incantation for every kido to release the full power. However some kido take too long for preparation that they just release without incantation with lower power. In the scene of Tessai vs Aizen Tessai just shoot Aizen with a cannon and Aizen use Bakudo no. 81 "Danku" to defend. "Danku" also appear in Byakuya vs espada No.7 fight. Byakuya just use a freaking huge transparent sheild to block the cursing eyes "Amor" And be aware Tessai is not a soul reaper but the Top of Kido user.

Thanks for bringing this up and yes actually I had another comment a long time ago explaining these things but after so many fights and seeing Bakudo/Kido being used, bringing this information helps a lot because now I have good examples so it's easy to remember 👍
