Hey all, hope you are all doing well. Apologies (again) for the long radio silence on here as I did not really find anything to post about. This post today will be delving into the technical aspects of the update, what's changed and improved. I'm mainly addressing this since the status update I posted months ago doesn't reflect these changes and makes it seem like work isn't being done on the game.

AI USAGE

Firstly I'd like to touch on the use of AI in the game again which has broadened and is now also clearly stated in the game itself. The game now has an artificially generated media setting which includes both images and videos.

Videos are generated using my hand-made art as input and are only meant to be additive to the story, not change it.

Images are enhanced versions of my hand-made art and only replace certain renders, they do not add any content. I also never intend to use this to change the look of a character. I have only used this to improve a character touching something on their body or someone else's, since this is difficult to pull off well in Daz3D. These are very likely to remain a small portion of the images in the game as I'm only going to use it in specific use cases where it makes sense to use.

Note: Videos and images will remain hand-made, AI generated media will simply be added on top.

CONFIGURABLE MEDIA CODECS

This has partially been touched upon in the earlier developer log for this update, but it has been extended for videos, images and audio, to hopefully allow certain devices to play the game without issues. The game should also auto adjust these for you (hopefully).

Note: The 4K video option has been removed since it does not offer much benefit at all with the improved compression of the videos.Credit to thelordofcorruption for assisting with this system (https://thelordofcorruption.itch.io/)

GAME LAUNCHER CHANGES

The 0.3 update introduced a new way of launching the game, which opened a terminal window and shortly after your main browser on your system. In 0.4 this will once again see a change, by default opening in an app-like window similar to 0.2 without having to be installed. The game will now also allow you to change the browser in which you're opening it in and the app-like window should be available for the Built-in, Edge and Chrome options, anything else will essentially show the same way as in 0.3 currently (without the terminal window).

On top of this, the launcher has also decreased 90% in size compared to 0.3.

Note: This might be different depending on operating system.

COMPACT VARIATION VIEWER

The variation viewer now has a compact mode included, allowing you to more efficiently switch between variations of a scene by just using your movement keys, no more scrolling the horizontal gallery at the bottom of your screen (though it's still included if you prefer it).

STATS

Still a work in progress for the most part but the next update will also add stats of your character, allowing you certain ways to level it up and unlocking rewards unique to each skill. Some statistics are planned to have an effect on specific scenes in the game, as well.

REPLAY SYSTEM

This feature is also somewhat of a work in progress still, but 0.4 will feature a replay system included in the chapters view, allowing you to replay any scene from the game that you've unlocked. With this, scenes are configurable, so you'll be able to select exactly how you want it to play out. (as long as you've played it before)

SAVE EDITOR

The game will also feature a built in save editor, mostly meant for myself but can be used by anyone wanting to add items, money, change story paths and so on.

OTHER TECHNICAL CHANGES

Obviously I cannot list every technical change, so instead I'll post screenshots below of the current in-game change log (without the content changes for spoiler reasons).

PATREON GROUP CHATS

This isn't a technical change really, but for those that are unaware, I've created Patreon group chats that contain some fetish specific teasers and are also an easier way to communicate. They may however be difficult to find, they should be listed under the "Chats" tab on my page.

FINAL NOTES

Last but not least, while I cannot talk about it just yet in detail, there are two major additions to the game that will most likely be getting introduced after 0.4 releases, both of which I'm personally very excited for and will be posting teasers for when the time comes. I'm also mentioning this in order to be more transparent with you all and say that the recent technical work I've done hasn't only been for the 0.4 update, which I do also apologize for.

Anyway, that's it for now, I hope you are all still as excited about the update as I am. As always, much love to you all and stay safe! ❤️

Lots of juicy details and exciting things to look forward to!

Mechaa

Love you too! ❤️

Thank you for this detailed update, however I am concerned about the AI video generation. I'm aware you used AI for 3D animation, but have you now fully switched to generating the animated scenes? Even the expansion and/or sex scenes? If so, I must say that's quite disappointing. I'm here for YOUR renders, and how YOU choose to make them move. I'm not here for an AI approximation of your renders, puppeteering them in an uncanny fashion... I hope I misunderstood this post, or that you change you mind on this..

Excited to cause hourglass expansions

ShadowKing321

As said in the devlog, AI is optional and there to improve things, and by default, switched off; Videos are generated using my hand-made art as input and are only meant to be additive to the story, not change it. Images are enhanced versions of my hand-made art and only replace certain renders, they do not add any content.

Mechaa

All of the animations currently in the public version of the game are not AI assisted (although some have had frame interpolation since the frame rate was too low, I believe). I have not fully switched to generating videos and will never do such a thing, these are completely optional and added on top of the hand made Daz animations that will still be included in the next update only for those who are okay with them. Sorry, it might have been my mistake in how I worded it. Edit: I forgot that the currently public version of the game does have 2 AI generated Nylah animations, but that is it.

Mechaa

Glad you're excited!

f@#k

Thank you so much for the reply, I am relived and anxiously awaiting the next update!

Vorefanlover

Wow that’s a lot of work done on the tech side can’t wait to find out the stuff your excited for

shybatboi

My favorite part of the game was the guess the typing prompt to cause growth things for the shrouded woman. I'm quite curious if there will be more moments like that in the next update

Mechaa

Thanks so much, can't wait to eventually be able to show it to you.

Something that might help to know here is how AI is handeled internally by Mecha and the team. I know exactly what you are talking about when you say that quality will suffer if we just replace all the hand made animations with AI generated ones. The way it is handeled right now is that I work on the AI animations but only after a part of the game has been finished and given to the testers. Meaning that Mecha does everything as it was before doing his own renders and animations. Only after that is finished I see the scenes for the first time and start working on ideas on how to move the characters in additional animations. Meaning that I will never create a whole new shot but rather just animate or interpolate the frames that are already there. Then Mecha evaluates the different animations and we decide which ones fit, which ones don't and which ones need to be improved. After all of that they get placed into the game as an option. It is mostly meant as a "Mod" that is included in the base game download expanding on what is already there for the people who want to see those additional movements. The most important thing for me was that this should under no circumstance slow down the update Progress so all the additional work is really just done by me and judged by Mecha. Generally we tend to scrap a lot of things and rather stay conservative there. I hope this info helps.

Jhon

I can confirm i am still very excited by this game!

Mechaa

There unfortunately won't be any content with that mechanic in the next update, sorry!

Ham

I am patiently waiting for the continuation of this game. I like the transparency on AI and I personally have no issue with it as long as the product is quality and that you disclose it. I appreciate the save editor being included as well. Love the stuff so far. Looking forward to the next release. <3

shybatboi

Hey it's cool the game still a working build I ain't going to be too crazy about it. As long as I get to see growing hourglasses or I get to cause scene like it to happen in the game later on I'm happy waiting

Mechaa

Glad you think so, definitely think it's the right way going forward. Appreciate the kind comment, thank you! ❤️

Squirrelboy76

Without spoilers, what exactly are the issues regard Daz3D and "character touching something on their body or someone else's" hence you using AI in this regard? Just curious.

Mechaa

Basically when a character is touching themselves or someone else, I would want the render to show deformations in the skin wherever the character is touching, this is possible in Daz3D but the results aren't very realistic and I find that AI does a much better job in this. I ask the AI to create realistic deformations and then basically only use that deformation over the original render to then create the optional AI version, hope that makes sense!

awfufu25

Could the author provide a rough timeframe for the next update? For instance, something like "version 0.4 is expected to be released in mid-November."

Mechaa

I still cannot give you an estimate that would be accurate enough but I'm still trying to aim to release it this year, though it is not a promise either.

Squirrelboy76

Hmm, interesting. Kinda gives me DLSS 5 vibes with the way you describe it though I know it's not exactly like it.

Whiskey

I genuinely believe that what you're creating is, without exaggeration, a landmark work of art in its field. And I don't say that lightly. I think that's in large part because of the incredibly high standards you hold yourself to as a creator. This is the first time I've ever looked forward to a game's updates this much. But please, take all the time you need and work at your own pace. A work like this deserves all the time, care, and passion it takes to become what you envision it to be.

Jack Jackson

Idk, reading your posts really lifts my spirits, the things you write give such a great impression of you, I get the feeling that you’re a very sweet person in real life :)

Mike park

This is pure ART, and I absolutely appreciate all the effort you are putting into this.

Mechaa

I get what you mean, but I'm not using it to change faces or character shapes and will never do so. Hope that makes it more clear.

Mechaa

I really appreciate your comment very much, thank you so much.

Mechaa

Well, thank you, though I'm definitely not perfect, though I try my best. 😅 Appreciate it!

Mechaa

Appreciation goes both ways here then. ❤️

PizzaEater9

top two and definitely not number two

Squirrelboy76

I'm aware, though even DLSS 5 is more varied than just "faces or character shapes" but thanks for the clarification regardless. Now that I just realized, if you mind me also asking, since there's already scenes in the game where characters are "touching something on their body or someone else's", will they receive retroactive optional AI modifications?

Mechaa

Yes it's about those scenes specifically, both old and new.
