But, soso foreal- whenever I see your art, I always have a fave panel, specifally of Alhaitham's/Kaveh's face that's just SO, so PERFECT- they way you portray such complex emotions that builds up into a panel that WRECKS ME, but this one??? Literally every panel?? The pain and hopelessness in Kaveh, the complicated dissapointment from Haitham- I'm crying and speechless and I can't stop rereading this!!

I am in awe once again at how beautiful your work is - at this point, despite always leaving an essay of a comment on most of your work, I feel like I am truly running out of words whenever I see your art. Without an ounce of exaggeration, I truly feel as though there isn’t something that can quite describe how much I love it. You were saying that you wish you can do it justice working on the final version of this comic, but I hope you believe it when I say that you’ve outdone yourself once again. I’ve said it before on the pet play series and I’ll run the risk of sounding like a broken record, but somehow you’ve taken another leap in the way you colour - the environment, the characters, the lighting. Everything looks even more detailed, and I am not sure how you managed to do it. Be it in the way the light inside Lambad’s casts a shadow on each strand of their hair, the warm tone added to it which truly captures the essence of the tavern, so much so I can almost hear the music, but also in the way you’ve transitioned from present day to memories and back again. It is such a nice parallel as well because it almost feels like the memories are tainted by their fallout and they cannot really allow themselves to look back on it without hurting, but present day basks them in the warmth of trying again - be it as friends or something more. Speaking of light and parallels, the top panel on the last page is SO well done. We always talk about how they are perfect mirrors of one another, from their design to their personalities, darshans and more, you captured their duality perfectly - Alhaitham in the shadow, whereas Kaveh’s face is kissed by the candle light. Not sure if it was intentional, but it made my heart squeeze a bit seeing it. Also reminds me of how the two wings of their house part, which may lead to their bedrooms, and you can see the broom and painting next to Kaveh’s bright hallway, then the books next to Alhaitham’s darker quarters. I love how there is a bit of hesitation in approaching Kaveh coming from Alhaitham - almost like he’d expect Kaveh to be doing well, so he will not interfere, but then takes a better look and realises that despite having changed, it isn’t exactly what Alhaitham expected. He doesn’t look nearly as joyful as he should have been considering the legacy Kaveh has built. Alhaitham may be a man of few words, but my god, the bit about Kaveh’s “immortal creations” and how he should have been happy made me tear up. Your dialogue always gets me - it is fond, in character, and carries with it the same amount of yearning we’ve come to expect from them. Gosh, they are both so beautiful - as much as I feel for Kaveh, the way he looks when scrunching up his brows and leaning his head in his hand is so beautiful. You can almost see the thought process he goes through - not knowing where to go from there, worrying about what he’ll do as he cannot impose on Lambad anymore than he has, unsure about the future. You managed to capture it perfectly, as well as the little smile he tries to mask his mood initially with until it drops into the familiarity of Alhaitham's presence. Lastly, because I am sure you’re tired of reading if you’ve gotten this far, my heart jumped in my throat at the sight of alhaitham pouring the wine into his cup, almost like that is his decision to say to himself “right, if you’re to go through the worst of it, then we’ll do it together” almost like he is making a pact with himself and a promise to Kaveh by drinking together. The colour of the bottle works so beautifully with Alhaitham’s colours. He’s just breathtakingly beautiful, I cannot take my eyes off him. Neither can Kaveh, especially as you can see him surprised to see Alhaitham before him, to then notice a flash of relief on his face on page 5 top left panel, and a bit of worry as to how he’s going to explain himself. Though, as always, we know he trusts Alhaitham despite everything and finds comfort in opening up to him for a reason.

kaveh who smiles as soon as he knows someone is looking at him, even though he’s already been crying… but when he sees it’s haitham, he doesn’t smile anymore. (is it surprise? the lingering anger and hurt? or just the fact that around alhaitham, he’s allowed to just Be, even if it’s not being his “normal” sunshine self? maybe all of them. maybe he’s just tired.)

it’s a reference to their backstory cos (tldr) they used to be best friends in the akademiya but fell apart due to the difference in their ideals 😭 and then they met again years later in the tavern and haitham invites kaveh to live with him

Oh my heart 😭 I’d give anything for Hoyo to show use a flashback of that reunion lol. Alhaitham’s double take he can never just glance at Kaveh it will always be a full on lingering look 😂 this so so lovely!!
