THE COURT OF THE DANCE

The returned Eilistraee keeps a modest home of large linked caverns within Svartalfheim, her divine enclave within Nidavellir, the third layer of the plane of Ysgard.

Within Svartalfheim, the regard (attention) of the goddess is revealed as a silver radiance kindling out of thin air. The favor of the goddess is clear when such radiance grows bright and starts to dance, motes swirling with a visible rhythm.

Hot springs well up in the heart of Svartalfheim, and by means of gentle, everpresent magical breezes warm and humidify all of the caves and tunnels Eilistraee claims. These springs are warmed by nearby magma as they rise up, under bubbling pressure, from the depths of Nidavellir. The vapors they give off have a distinctive ‘iron tang’ smell, but lack the reek of sulphur, and aren’t perilous to breathe.

Unlike the bleaker Nidavellan subterranean surroundings of Eilistraee’s realm, which are typically bare rock, dripping stalactites, mold, “toadstool” and polyp-colony fungi, and prowling monsters, Svartalfheim is warm and
