Hey everyone!!! I know it's been a while over here, but I'm starting to accept the fact that it may be more natural to me to post frequently towards the end of the month rather than throughout.. I am sorry about that! I wanted to give you guys a quick update on what I've been up to. Before I do that, here are some WIPS and the final of Noelle's Hairstyle meme! I guess once I started it with HJ, I had to commit to doing all the main characters :P Just Fiona left now. I cannot believe the last one I did was at the end of May >_> It feels like it was WAY more recent that that?! This summer just flew by somehow o_o

Update: I've done a lot of freelance work this months, something I committed to a couple of months back for the necessary income. I think it's pretty much wrapping up now, and I will be honest with you guys... I'm pretty unhappy that I took on the work and that it derailed me as usual, but at the same time as far as bills go it was absolutely crucial for me, so in the end it was something I absolutely had to do.

That being said, I made some decisions in the meantime and I'm not going to take a bombastic approach towards Gloamingvale like I was planning to. I have this natural tendency to escalate my expectations, and I realized that doing the prologue traditionally is just an insane move for me... it would triple the production time, cost more material-wise, and make me unable to get any help whatsoever since I'd have to do it myself entirely. Looking back on Grimoire Noir, the expectations I set for myself with the rendering/style of the pages were basically the absolute most I could do at the time, and tbh not a whole lot has changed since then and I should be more than happy to just set the same expectations, and try my best to improve in other aspects of comic making such as pacing, choosing shots/comps and other factors. No need to be a hero and paint every single panel of the prologue haha.

Sometimes making decisive choices like this really helps me get over a total rut, and I'm glad I was able to finally think it through clearly and just decide already. I have started the process, the first part of which is setting up all the files and templates for the pages to make sure the size/resolution is appropriate for eventual prints etc. I won't say much more about this until I have WIPS to show you guys! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so patient with me TuT

also! and i only thought of that afterwards: digital comic pages would allow you to travel more easily (plus the help you could get).

I love the art style and look of Grimoire Noir so if that's the style your going for, it will look amazing. I believe I said this before, but it's okay if you just leave like the chapter covers or frist page of a chapter in traditional watercolor. Many Japanese comics book artist do so. It's crazy to try and do a whole chapter in traditional color. I believe the French comic Blacksad is all in watercolor but the author has a whole team to help him. Even in Japan they have assistants. Make sure your comic is manageable for you so it does not cause your stress. :)
