Answering your immediate questions, CFB is College Football. Boise is the capital of Idaho. In addition to the national championship playoff, there are “bowl” games that pit the next best teams against each other just for fun/money making purposes. This upset was actually pretty key in increasing pressure on college football to introduce a playoff. The year this happened, the top two teams were picked by a complicated mix of computer simulations, coach rankings, and reporter rankings. If number 1 was undefeated, number 2 was a one loss team, and number 3 was undefeated, 3 was still out. It was judged to be unfair and finally went the way of the dodo. Don’t be too hard on the system because previously, the national championship wasn’t played for at all. Maybe the top two would meet in a bowl but not guaranteed. There were a bunch of shared championships. That had to go because Americans don’t like ties lol. But sadly no, they wouldn’t go on to play Ohio State, so it is a what if scenario.

I’m pretty sure the reporter at the end was joking cus when he dropped to a knee, he said oh he is really gonna do it! In my memory, that was a cute spontaneous moment. Forgot about the interview with the drunk guys in the background lol.

The way overtime works in college is a you go, I go back and forth til someone breaks. Kinda like a penalty shootout.
