It gets cold in the desert at night, especially in the winter.

Her mistake was waiting too long to smack her. She should have done it in the heat of battle while they were all bullying her. Much more legally defensible than waiting and meditating on it and hitting her afterwards.

If they call the police, the whole city will see and know about how the entire skating rink, including the DJ, were bullying El. That might be something they want to avoid.

That evil Mengele at Hawkins thought he could kidnap children, brainwash them into a bunch of psychic killing machines, treat them like crap, and then expect to be able to control them? Children can't even control themselves. El should have killed him first and foremost, but she had Stockholm Syndrome really bad.

I guarantee you when those squad cars with lights and siren blaring rolled up to that house, ever one from blocks around would be outside watching. Reality of small town life.

The Russian guy on the phone said something about Hopper's trust that Jane had control of, or words to that effect. I'm sure that when Hop was declared dead, he collected some sort of pension and/or life insurance, and the court put it in a trust for El, with Joyce administering it, since she is now raising El.
