That business of hats indoors is a fairly recent phenomenon. Gentleman are not supposed to wear hats indoors. My grandfathers and father certainly didn't do it. And you had better not have sat down at my Mimi's table wearing a hat. I don't know when the custom started, but I wish it would stop, especially when people sit in front of me at concerts with hats on.

That mother is a sick, twisted individual. That whole family is. Lee was probably the best of them, and now he's gone.

I don't agree that the whole family is twisted. They have had their share of drama and have been shaped by it. Beth, as crazy as she is, will protect her family and she has the capacity to love but also doesn't forgive when she is wronged. Has John made mistakes in his past? Of course he has, we all have but he is truly trying to keep the ranch for his family and to honour his father. He sees it as their legacy. Jamie is messed up by his own greed and is generally a not nice person which Lyle will find out soon. He is jealous of John and wants to be powerful like him. Casey just wants to love his family and take care of them but Monica is biased against his father and poisons any chance of a reconciliation. Casey is also been shaped by the past and his time in the military.When they lost their mother and when John lost his wife, it started them all down a path that wouldn't have happened otherwise. She was their rock and steadied everyone it seems though her parting words to Beth were actually quite awful. Ok I think I am done now 😁
