Miscegenation laws were quite real in some states, not all. They were repealed in the 1950s and 1960s.

With blacks and whites not allowed to drink out of the same fountains or eat in the same restaurants, it shocked you that they weren't allowed to intermarry?

The debt is owed to whoever holds the debt. If you default to the bank, they can take your property. If you default on your taxes, they can take your property. If you default on your debt to someone else, they can take your property. If there were no penalties for defaulting on debt, how would you get anyone to pay it back?

I had just finished Yellowstone and didn't know that there were prequels. I already watched 1883 - loved it. This one is a rollercoaster of emotions.

It's a crying shame what the white "Christians" did to bring "civilzation" to the "savages" - no matter where they came across other cultures. The churches played an infamous role there in many aspects. I suppose it is easier to erase/kill something you don't know or that's different than actually trying to understand a different concept of life.
