Coby SKIPPED Friday the 13th Part V but we did have her at least watch the trailer, and now she is on to what Letterboxd would have you believe is the BEST Friday the 13th movie but Coby's favorite still remains among the first four movies in the series.

Friday the 13th Part VI Jason Lives (1986) FULL WATCH ALONG w/ Coby

This film had a lot of intentional comedy put in as the concept of re-animating Jason was just absurd. The studio agreed to the comedy as long as they never made Jason the butt of the jokes. Comedy in horror was unfortunately common in the mid/late 80s driven mostly by the success of the wise-cracking Freddy Krueger. Unfortunately the series just went downhill from here in my opinion (Jason Takes Manhattan was just unwatchable).

A lot of us enjoy the meta humour (before it was commonplace), the stunt with the RV, the fact that kids actually appear in a movie set in a summer camp and aren't annoying (maybe a little hammy). It was a refreshing take on the series six(!) movies in, especially after 5, which people didn't like (but some love!). It's definitely the most "Hollywood" movie in the series thus far with a soundtrack that featured Alice Cooper. Feels pretty weird for a F13 movie to have a soundtrack, in a way... I'd probably go 4, 6, 1 as my top three of the early ones.
