Nicki is continuing her Cheers reactions but we don't have time to do this entire series so she is just going to be reacting to a few select curated episodes that epitomize this great 80s sitcom. Go back and check out her reaction to The Pilot, but for now, enjoy Norman's Conquest which highlights the amazing talent that was George Wendt.

I wouldn't worry about needing further context about Norm and Vera's relationship; Vera is one those famous sitcom characters who we always hear about but never see. From what Norm usually tells us of his relationship with her, though, it seems to be a case of two people who ultimately do love eachother despite often needing time and space away from eachother lol. And not having seen this episode in a long time, I was as surprised as you that almost everyone in the bar (other than Coach, and of course, Diane) are constantly egging Norm on to be unfaithful. I think it all comes together nicely with Diane's speech to him at the end, though, making it clear how everyone else's envy or dissatisfaction with their own lives are what drives their behavior. The final twist (which kind of becomes a recurring thing with this show btw) might seem to spoil Norm's newfound realization, but I think it just shows how often in these situations, some people still need a comforting fiction to cling to while still realizing that it IS fiction, and that staying true to yourself and your loved ones is most important when the chips are down. I'm really looking forward to your future Cheers reactions, as this was a favorite show of my late girlfriend, and its really nice to be able to share the enjoyment of it.

What I loved about CHEERS is any episode could be your first episode and it just all made sense haha
