Conversational Ancient Greek Course, & Beginner Ancient Greek Level 2 (Patreon)
Content
Hello, Dear Patrons! I am offering two courses starting next month:
BEGINNER ANCIENT GREEK LEVEL 2
CONVERSATIONAL ANCIENT GREEK
These two courses may be taken individually or concurrently.
• Beginner Ancient Greek Level 2 •
Follow deeper into the underworld with Thrasymachus’ Catabasis as we encounter even more myths, heroes, villains, tyrants, and saviors until at last returning to the surface where Homer will take us on a new journey. This course will cover Chapters 11-20 in Thrasymachus’ Catabasis (thus being a continuation of the course from late last year).
The Beginner Ancient Greek Level 2 course will consist of 10 total lessons 90 min each, and have two sections you may choose from:
Section I: MONDAYS at 9am Eastern Time (3pm Central European Time).
Section II: MONDAYS at 12pm noon Eastern Time (6pm Central European Time).
Maximum enrollment for each section will be 10 participants.
Start date: Monday, April 7th.
• Conversational Ancient Greek •
Let’s learn to express ourselves in Ancient Greek, practicing skills to describe the world around us, our daily activities, hobbies, likes and dislikes, family, food, emotions, opinions, clothing and colors, and many more topics! While the goal of learning to read an ancient language can be achieved without extensive conversational skills, being able to personalize the target language to our own lives can make it much more vivid and rewarding.
The Conversational Ancient Greek course will consist of 10 total lessons 90 min each, and have two sections you may choose from:
Section I: FRIDAYS at 9am Eastern Time (3pm Central European Time).
Section II: FRIDAYS at 12pm noon Eastern Time (6pm Central European Time).
Maximum enrollment for each section will be 10 participants.
Start date: Friday, April 11th.
The minimum prerequisits for taking Conversational Ancient Greek are:
- ability to sound out written Ancient Greek (in any pronunciation)
- some initial familiarity with Ancient Greek grammar, including some exposure to the case system and verbal conjugations, and some acquaintance with the vocabulary found in any of the various introductory textbooks.
If you’ve taken Ancient Greek Level 1 with me or equivalent, or studied the first 10 chapters (approximately) of Thrasymachus’ Catabasis or Athenaze or Alexandros or Reading Greek, etc., you meet the prerequisits. Naturally participants with intermediate or more advanced knowledge of Ancient Greek are most welcome!
You may take one course, or both! Here is the calendar for both courses over the ten-week period:

The price of each course will be $200; however, whatever you already contribute monthly will be subtracted from the total due; for example, if you are a Maecēnātiānī Tier patron ($10 a month), the course for you will discounted to $190; if you are a Theodōrēī Tier Patron ($20 monthly) then for you the course will only be $180; etc.
While attendance is encouraged, it is not mandatory; that is, if you can only attend some but not all the lessons due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, worry not! I will assist you by email to catch up on what you missed.
If you would like to sign up, please email me at scorpiomartianus@gmail.com today! Specify the course (or courses) you would like to sign up for and the section (9am or 12pm Eastern Time) you prefer; if you are able to attend at either time, let me know that as well.
