Ancient Greek Lesson 4, Grammatical Gender, 1st decl masc, 2nd decl fem • Ancient Greek in Action!

Pronunciation notes (see below for English*): 🇬🇷 😊 🐢 ANCIENT GREEK IN ACTION 🏛 by Luke Amadeus Ranieri 🦂 Λούκιος ̣Θεόφιλος Ρᾱνιήριος Preliminary Lesson on the Ancient Greek Alphabet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr1laRMrw64 Lesson 4 gives the terms for masculine, feminine, and neuter, and how to indentify them. 1st declension masculine nouns and 2nd declension feminine nouns are highlighted. The Dual is not a mandatory form in Ancient Greek, since the regular Plural may be used in place of the Dual even for two of a thing. Thus τὼ ὀρνιθίω may be rendered as τὰ ὀρνίθια even for two birds. This overlap will be clarified in later lessons. The Dual form is used with increasing rarity through the centuries of Ancient Greek (roughly 9th century BC to 6th century AD). *Pronunciation notes: This video uses the Lucian Pronunciation of Ancient Greek, which is a reconstruction of the historical sound of Greek during the first centuries of the Roman Empire. This pronunciation system is explained in detail in my video on the Lucian Pronunciation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt9z5Gvp3MM And my research into Ancient Greek phonology is summarized in this public spreadsheet of mine, Ranieri's Greek Pronunciation Chronology: https://bit.ly/ranierigreekpronunciation The methology in determining this historical pronunciation, and the reasons for choosing it over other standards, is explained in the above linked Lucian Pronunciation video.
