This is great stuff! Just a quick question: is the sequence "oⲓ" a diphthong like /ɔɪ/ or is it two monophthongs like /ɔ.i/. I'm guessing the former from how you said ϭoⲓⲥ, but just checking in general.

It is a diphthong! My diphthong section earlier was not comprehensive, which was my mistake at the time.

Fun fact: ⲙⲉⲧ- comes from 𓌃𓂧𓏏𓀁 'mdt' meaning "speech, matter." Its verb-form 𓌃𓂧𓅱𓀁 'mdw' "to speak, call" also survives as ⲙⲟⲩϯ, and you might have seen 𓊹𓌃 'mdw nTr', meaning "god's speech," the Middle Egyptian term for "Hieroglyphs." Apparently, the use of ⲙⲉⲧ- to form abstract nouns didn't start until the Graeco-Roman period (see Cerny's Coptic Etymology). Your interpretation of ⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉⲙⲛⲭⲏⲙⲓ as "Egyptianness" makes sense. I used to just take it literally as "the speech of the Egyptians." Interestingly, a Roman was just ⲟⲩ-ⲣⲱⲙⲉⲟⲥ, no ⲣⲉⲙ- used, so Latin was ⲙⲉⲧⲣⲱⲙⲉⲟⲥ. Greek = ⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲉⲓⲛⲓⲛ (from ionic).
