Wench Job Rework
I've been looking at how to improve the wench events so they feel less repetitive and more connected to the world of A New Dawn.
The current idea is to make each shift shorter, sharper, and more meaningful.
Instead of long table-by-table work, a wench shift would focus on three key moments:
- A room/customer event
- A pressure or tip event
- A Wendy event where she teaches Victoria the "rules" of the room
The focus will also move away from generic tavern work. Fetching ale and serving tables is not really where the gold is.
The gold is Victoria herself.
She stands out because she is a noble lady in a poor town. The room notices how she carries herself: her posture, her careful movements, her controlled manners, and the way she still acts like the old world exists around her.
The men in the pub notice that. They mock it, test it, and eventually start paying for it.
Victoria's choices will let her decide how much she resists, how much she adapts, and how much she learns to earn from the attention. Her outfits will also change based on those choices.
Wendy's role will become more important too. She will not just manage the job. She will teach Victoria the ugly logic of the room:
RPG Maker MV Problems
RPG Maker MV also decided to fight me this week.
The editor stopped working completely for three whole days, which obviously slowed things down a lot. I finally found a fix, so development can continue again, but it was one of those frustrating technical problems that eats time without producing anything visible.
Not very exciting, but very real game development.
RenPy Short Project
The new wench concept also inspired me to test something in Ren'Py.
I know... the last thing I need is another big project.
But this is not meant to be another large RPG Maker game. Think of it more as me exploring visual novels and testing what Ren'Py can do for smaller, more focused adult stories.
And honestly, I'm amazed by how fast it is to work in that engine.
I wrote a full text-only version of the game from start to finish in one day. Since then, I've polished it several times, but there are no CGs yet and it is still very much a prototype.
I'll upload the VN soon as bonus content for Captain tier.
The goal is not to replace A New Dawn or BOOB. It is more of an engine and writing experiment: a way to see if I can create shorter, sharper VN-style releases alongside the larger RPG Maker projects.
Virelith Shadeleaf
This story has lived inside my head for a long time.
Exiled from elven society, Virelith Shadeleaf a proud elf warrior takes work at The Low Moon, a filthy border tavern where smugglers, goblins, mercenaries, and other dangerous creatures gather after dark.
She expects humiliation. She expects disgust. She does not expect the tavern to see through her.
Every shift strips away another piece of her old pride as patrons mock her elegance, test her control, and turn her shame into entertainment. But the goblins are worse. They do not fear her bloodline. They do not bow to her beauty. They see the forbidden hunger she has spent her life denying.
At The Low Moon, Virelith must decide what remains of an elf when exile, desire, and shame all start calling her by a new name.
There's so much more to the game but I don't want to spoil it in the synopsis. It's better experienced.
Should I continue developing the Virelith Ren’Py prototype as a small side project?
I want to be clear: this is not replacing A New Dawn or BOOB.
The Virelith project is currently a small Ren'Py prototype. I’m testing whether Ren'Py can help me create shorter, more focused VN-style releases without the same heavy RPG Maker overhead.
Before I decide how much further to take it, I'd like to know how interested you are in seeing more of it.
