Ramathustra Ron's martini with a "twist" begins paying in spades. We see more deeply into Pat's Rod Huggins rabbit hole. We are left with the unshakeable feeling that perhaps, just perhaps, Led Zeppelin was real after all. Can you imagine?!

Lonesome Cowpoke

My two cents: where Pat screwed up was by doing the chessboard thing

Linus Lee

Oh dang. Been got by the funnies again.

chili sunrise

Damn Jimmy Bananas, you ain’t have to kill the guy

Vijnananath

Ramathustra Ron is simultaneously Not Wrong about Pat's trip but also An Asshole about it.

Benzy

Lol, Pat's heroic dose results in extremely diminished returns inside the mind of someone so pent up.

EndgamerAzari

Man, I feel bad for Pat. He finally gets to the core of some of his issues, only to be told nobody cares. Bet he comes out of this at new levels of prick.

Pat and Ray a truly underrated pair for a storyline. Would love to get a Roast Beef/Todd adventure next perhaps…

A Cloth Map

Ray doesn’t really do trauma. Not his style.

Bob the Fish Productions

The density of Pat's assholishness is such that he has to start from this kind of basic shallow end just to prepare him for the abyss that is the deep end

Jay Y

Rod isn't even crying because of the physical pain, he's just that upset over the betrayal and this being the only conceivable solution to preserve his honor.

Jay Williams

“Oh, balls.” Exactly the sentiment felt by anyone immediately prior to any interaction with Pat.

blair

He has Ramses and alcoholism; the rest is first-world problems.

Clench and Cheese

Chris is venturing into Little Nemo territory in that first panel. I'd be serving Pat a jailhouse bologna sandwich on white bread and reminding him it's good enough fare for Nice Pete. I guess we need to wait for next week to get to the part that makes sense.

Zen Window

I didn't remotely expect to find Ramathustra Ron to be a sympathetic character, but I suppose Pat just brings that out in everyone who isn't Pat.

Pat's bush league shit pass it on

John Robinson

Am I the only one who heard a distinct change in Ramathustra Ron's voice for the next-to-last panel? Like a shift from "hushed, reserved, very slightly British, Chakra People" tones to "full-voiced, the grifter drops the façade, distinctly American" harshness.

Oppido

Pat's "bush league shit" is the Square One I'm still struggling to internalize after a year in therapy.

Julie (HiDeeHoGal)

Oh no, does Pat have a cluster B personality disorder too? Due to the lack of eyebrows and presence of his 'interesting enjoyment' mouth shape, I am going to assume Ray is having a nice time.

Oppido

Ray's also got soft-serve ears now, though the significance of this is harder to divine.

Mightyclaw

With just the barest hint of a Boston accent, perhaps.

Jon

Am I reading this right? Pat was so sad at the end of War Games, when WOPR decides not to unleash nuclear annihilation, that he summons that scene as he's trying to fabricate some kind of personal trauma?

Chris Gumprich

Wow. That first panel alone was worth the price of admission.

kdusjjdhxksj

To the surprise of nobody that knows him, Ray's ego remains alive and well

Walter Biggins

Last panel is a perfect note of vague foreboding, because I’m pretty sure Pat’s locked in that room & is about to get down to the real darkness

Doctor Memory

I feel like there is a verrrrrrry specific slice of raised-in-the-80s-by-hippie-parents demographic that instantly recognized the gnomes because that stupid book was inevitably somewhere in the house.

Jay Y

I mostly remember the TV series playing on Nickelodeon. If I'm not careful, the theme song will worm its way into my brain and lodge there indefinitely.

Tacocat

We thought he was a monster then... watch out!

Oppido

Been a while since the last time Todd ran for president! Everyone loves a comeback story.
