Although the last few episodes were better, this season was not great. I think particularly this had to do with the amount of truly boring plots, villains and moments. plus while I did like Martha, she was WAY too similar to Rose. IMO each companion shouldn’t feel like the same role with The Doctor. They should have their own dynamics and to me, Martha’s dynamic with the Doctor wasn’t different enough to not feel like just a Rose replacement. Ik people will disagree but that’s just my opinion While back you asked for pitches to keep watching the series so finally here is mine. My pitch for continuing Doctor Who is picking one of two option if you want to continue is option one is to do a limited watch of season 4. I think me and a few other whovians can suggest a watch order of important episodes from season 4 to watch (season 4 is about 19 episodes, we could probably get it down to 10-12). Ik thats still a lot but that brings me to… Option two if you are leaning towards stopping, my last advice is to skip season 4, and watch episodes 1 and 2 of season 5 (or at least episode 1). Season 5 is the start of a new show runner with more modern take on the show and a bit of a different vibe. If after that you enjoy it and want to continue season 5, there will be 2-3 episodes from season 4 you need to go back and watch. Ik you hate skipping episodes in a series but you can always go back and watching season 4 if you end up liking season 5+ Personally I would love to see you continue with Season 4 but I also don’t want to be forcing yourself to watch it if you haven’t been enjoying it. Ik you had said you watched a few episodes of season 5 and were intrigued so I thought maybe you would be willing to give skipping a shot as a last resort. And honestly if you don’t want to continue after ep 1 & 2, that is okay. Giving us Doctor Who 3 seasons was fantastic and thank you for sticking it out so long and sorry for the long post

3x11 Yeah, I am confused too. Jack was in Torchwood when he disappeared and he wasn’t wearing a backpack with the hand in a jar in it. Yes, a good episode. I like the Master character. The call backs - The big head dude (Face of Boe) saying You Are Not Alone as his final message and the “Professor” typing in YANA as his name on the screen. - The “Professor” triggering on the Tardis, time travel, The Doctor being reborn, his being a genius. All clues to being a time lord. - The watch being used to make him a human. All these things tying into The Doctor and previous episodes, kewl.

Yes, Richard does now say that every ep of the podcast now. You should have made the bad joke. :) Yeah, the way he says Master is.... interesting. (i got distracted by a new phone and didn't make more comments)

Hi Shan just James, Patreon mem, yes we know! Here are some things I found out about this episode. RTD’s version of The Master was influenced by the Voodoo Child song, he even asked for the song to be cleared before writing the script “Here it comes, the sound of drums,” provided the episode with its title. Davies almost forgot to include the song in the narrative and was reminded by script editor Simon Winstone at a late stage. Many aspects of this episode are in fours, the drumbeat, the Toclafane show up in four, they have four spikes on the bottom plate and four spikes on the middle plate. The car chase was originally much more elaborate but it was scaled down due to budget concerns. When Saxon addresses the nation, his first words are "Britain, Britain, Britain". Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor) used these words often as a narrator for the comedy series Little Britain. And yes I have been listening to the SPN podcast every week since the beginning and every week without fail Richard Speight Jnr makes the same Japanese fun boat that kills you joke and it drives me mad so here I am passing it forward.

"You're insane" yep, yeah, kind of, have you not heard of the Master, yeah I hadn't either so I don't blame you. Nearly all of Martha's family has been taken, that's not good. "I like the way you say my name" Yeah, like I said in my comment for the previous episode, it seems like they had a complicated relationship. So the Time Lords made children look into the Untempered Schism, which drove the Master insane and caused the Doctor to run and never stop running. Well, that just seems great on the Time Lords part, not problematic or terrible at all. I thought this was a good episode, I like the Master and the actor who plays him John Simm is doing great with the role. I guess I just like a good villain played by an actor and not a robot like the Daleks or Cybermen who the finales are usually about.

The Master becoming Prime Minister of England does remind me of Lex Luthor becoming President of America, and killing all of those cabinet members is a very Luthor thing to do. This version of the Master I think is a combination of both Joker and Luthor, I say this because he's got the charm and intelligence of Lex but the insanity of Joker. His wife Lucy I think is both Eve Teschmcher and Harley Quinn. I don't know why but my favourite scene is when that dying cabinet member calls the Master insane, and he just replies by giving a thumbs up, I've always found that funny. Just need the Master to say "I know isn't it brilliant?" Another thing I like is that America steps in to take over first contact after England originally made contact first. It almost feels petty in a way, I mean just because the aliens didn't talk to America first doesn't mean they have to take over, it's not all about them. Though it's a shame the US president that the aliens killed wasn't Trump, cause I would lose no sleep if that happened in real life because I'm huge Trump hater. I like America but I hate Trump and the fact that he's president.
