Hey Shan just James Patreon member, yes we know who you are. Kylie! The OG, the one and only Ozzy export, better than 4 tinnies and a drop bear any day cobber. Shan: Spikey headed lookin dude Me: *jumps up* I understood that reference! This episode had the working titles of Titanic II and Starship Titanic. RTD changed it to Voyage of the Damned when it was pointed out that Douglas Adam’s (script editor for DW and creator of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) had created a video game and novel of the same title, years earlier. This episode was dedicated to Verity Lambert, the first producer of Classic Who, who had died about a month prior to broadcast. This was Kylie Minogue's first major acting appearance since her diagnosis and recovery from breast cancer two years earlier. Kylie is bloody awesome, way better than Madonna, Taylor swift, Britney or Christina but the less said about Street Fighter the better. Kylie Minogue's involvement came about when her creative designer William Baker, accompanied his friend Mark Gatiss to the season three press launch at London's May Fair Hotel. Baker had previously incorporated Doctor Who-themed imagery into her music shows. Julie Gardner replied that Minogue could guest star if her schedule was free. Minogue agreed, imagine that! No audition, no call back no waiting no problem. Astrid was originally going to survive but get left behind. Kylie Minogue met designer Louise Page four times during pre-production to discuss her costume. Kylie chose a "cigarette girl" image, similar to a "1950’s cinema usherette". She said it was the most comfortable costume she’d worn in years. On the second day of shooting, David Tennant learned that his mother, Helen McDonald, was on the verge of losing her five-year battle with cancer. Tennant immediately left set to be present during his mother's final moments. This led to the shooting schedule being re-arranged to focus on scenes that didn't feature the Doctor and special effects work. The production was then suspended until Tennant was able to return, a stressful situation given Kylie Minogue's short window of availability. However, the hiatus was brief, as Tennant threw himself back into his work the day after his mother passed away. He was released for a day to attend her funeral. Astrid is an anagram of TARDIS. Kylie does not have a forklift license. The woman who died, her name was Foon Van Hoff. Just a fact I found amusing. 12.2 million people watched this on Christmas Day 2007 and I was one of them, in England I would describe this as mandatory Christmas Day television viewing. 2 roses.

just wanted to say, welcome back to the Whoniverse, happy to see you back. :)

hey, sorry for the 2nd comment on the same video, Just jim here, not Harriet Jones, the prime minister(she tells everyone who she is). Wanted to say, yes that guy is indeed from Being Human, but also he was in the Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Eath X. I forget his superhero name, but he was Captain Cold's boyfriend. :)

Welcome back to the Whoniverse Shan, glad to see you watching series 4. This special is alright in my books, didn't mind Kylie Minogue being in it, in fact this episode introduced me to her (I wasn't big on music when I was a kid, so I had never heard of her before). That scene of the Doctor telling everyone who he is, has lived in my head rent free since I was 10 and still does cause its awesome. Also if I could pick where the ship was going crash I'd chose the White House with Trump inside, I am aware it would destroy Washington but Trump would be dead and the world would be better off without him.

Astrid’s name is an anagram of Tardis. This storyline is very similar to the movie The Poseidon Adventure (1972). I liked this episode a lot. Maybe because I really liked the above mentioned movie.

I think the story you are talking seeing, is from classic who a black and white 60s story called the chase, in one of the episodes the daleks appear up in a ship at sea

The real Queen Elizabeth II was apparently a fan of Doctor Who. Perhaps not coincidentally, the head of the BBC who cancelled the original Doctor Who back in the 80s was the only head of the BBC never to receive a knighthood.
