MyDanishThoughts

Hope you'll make this a regular series at some point. Edit: just saw the reaction and I am glad you are doing the first season. I hope you will do future seasons as well. The seasons do vary in terms of quality, but season 1 is one of the good ones but it is a bit slow. If you keep watching more seasons, you might see a familiar actor or two... or five.

This is one of my favorite shows of all time, so seeing you watch it makes me really excited. I hope that by the time you reach the season finale, you’ll have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it and want to continue into season 2. You seem to have enjoyed this episode much more than the pilot, where you said the show wasn’t really for you. That makes me glad! I do think that the second episode is better, but mostly because it gives us more insight into the characters and their dynamics. I think the reason this franchise is so popular and beloved is because Dexter, as a character, is morally gray. Yes, he kills people, but he only kills the worst of the worst. His code is much stricter than the justice system could impose. The idea of him being a serial killer who follows such a strong moral code is what makes him so compelling and fun to watch. It’s not really like anything else we’ve seen before. You’re just getting started, so hopefully by the end of the season, you’ll be a fan of the show and want to continue. You’re going to have a blast, and I’m really excited to see your reactions to everything that happens this season and in future seasons if you continue. Enjoy episode 3!

James

Yes! Quite a few familiar actors. Hopefully, she gets to my favorite season, not gonna say which one bc of expectation spoilers, but I agree with season 1 being a good one. I love all the seasons if I’m being honest though.

2026-09-12 23:00 This was definitely a nice surprise. I thought maybe someone had selected it but even better, you decided to react to the rest of S1, which was really unexpected. I hope you at least make it through the rest of the season before you decide to keep going or not. But ultimately it's up to you. No pressure. Just keep in mind, a show can vary in quality throughout a season until the finale, which typically is what the rest of the season builds to. This episode is a good one. I like how they had Dexter do his kill of the week but still there is the Ice Truck Killer and the cop killer out there, which gives an overarching plot for the next coming episodes. Darla sure is different in this show. It is nice to see her in another recurring role. I think she brings balance to Dexter's darker side and gives him hope to someday maybe give up the vigilante activities. That is, if they ever, you know. Insert funky porn music. I'm glad though to see more Dexter on the channel. He is one of those characters that is really fascinating and it kind of makes the show worth watching. Funny how you reacted to Death Note not so long ago. Decter and Light are pretty similar, except that Dexter is only interested in getting rid of people for moral reasons, instead of his ego. Plus Dexter actually gets his hands dirty, or bloody, lol.

I love Dexter as a character. There really aren't many characters in media who are as morally grey as Dexter. He's a serial killer, but he only kills other killers who slip through the system. Morally, he's wrong for killing, but the world is arguably a better place because of what he does. I would say he's inadvertently saved thousands of lives by now by killing people who otherwise could have gone on to murder others. That's what makes Dexter such a great show to watch.

Wow, very surprised to see you go with this series for a one season trial. I am intrigued though. I watched this series when it came out but haven’t seen the later added seasons. I find the constant narration intering mainly due to his voice, it’s kind of hypnotic with a little creepy mixed in. With that and the eerie music it works well. Surprisingly, he has a good singing voice. He most likely uses ice trays to make ice. When you do that you usually break the ice into a container ahead of time. As the container gets low, you break up more into it and refill trays. Now, we just use auto ice makers with dispensers in doors but many people still do it the old way. Well now his sister will be working along side him in same department. That should be interesting. Interesting how they did the switch when Dexter was in bathroom next to the Drug Lord then he is in room with DUI guy o the table. Starting to see why his dad may have decided to teach Dexter to do what he does. To get the criminals that the law can’t. Side note: Interesting thumbnail you chose. Looking at it, I thought, well that’s it, she done with Dexter again.

James

Yes he does have a good singing voice. He is even part of a band called "Princess Goes". They make their own music and Michael C. Hall is the lead vocalist.

The last time I watched Dexter was over ten years ago and I got through three seasons and I loved those three seasons, hope you get through season 1. I rewatched the reaction to the first episode and you didn’t seem to care for it back then, glad that you are giving it a try now. Loved the first two episodes.
