2026-09-12 23:00 Hey Shan hope your ripper, Yeaaah this was a lot for what is technically the 800th episode of Doctor Who. When departing the Tardis on the final day of filming Matt Smith turned to Peter Capaldi gave him a hug and the watch off his wrist and said “this is yours now, and the Tardis is yours” Capaldi said that on stage with Jenna Coleman. This one episode tries to squeeze an insane amount into a finale - Matt Smith’s finale + resolution to the Silence storyline + explanation of Trenzalore + explanation of the regeneration limit + Time Lords returning + a Christmas special and then introduce Peter Capaldi. The Australian publication The AU Review made essentially the same criticism at the time, giving it 3½ stars, arguing that the pacing suffered because so many loose ends had to be tied together. I get that. Fortunately we had Matt Smith and that’s the reason why it works, watching Eleven age is heartbreaking the silly, energetic young man from “The Eleventh Hour” is suddenly an old man who has spent centuries defending one little town. He doesn’t run (Tennant loved the running) He doesn’t abandon Christmas or look for a way out he stays and accepts that this is where he will make his final stand. Amy represents the beginning of Eleven’s story. He started off as her imaginary friend and she ended his story by being his. He arrived as a mad man in a bow tie and now Eleven bows out as an old man who had spent centuries protecting Christmas. And yes Matt and Karen are wearing wigs. Karen regretted that they didn't swap them at a recent Panel. 8.3 million viewers when airing on Christmas Day 2013 not that I count it as one because weepy. Two roses. 4 stars. In beards that’s a John Wick.

I guess this is how to reply to my last comment since you reply in your videos. No, they didn’t do any American version of it. I think you are thinking about them giving the international distribution rights to an American company, for it to be easier for Americans to continue watching Doctor Who. After it left HBO Max.

Zoot!

Sometimes I wish they had done a 2-parter for Matt's finale, but really this, the 50th before it, and the episode before that are a really good trilogy to end up his run. I felt the crack in the wall was sort of rushed into this episode, but I was glad to see it back. Good book end for Matt's run.

Zoot!

I think Matt had shaved his head for Terminator? Can't remember anymore.

If I understand correctly, Capaldi is the 13th regeneration when you include the war doctor and ten keeping the same face in journeys end but so then the 14th body or 13th body if you take away the second ten or first body of this new cycle but we call him 12

Random bit of trivia I got off Tumblr: the words that most often appear in a NuWho episode title are "The" "of" "Doctor" and "Time." Making this episode, "The Time of the Doctor," statistically the most typical NuWho title (the equivalent for the classic series, if anyone's wondering, is "Planet of the Daleks").

Yeah, 11 was my favorite Doctor. I love them all, but I still miss him. Makes sense though that he left after the 50th. I mean, there's no way as a Doctor that you can top that. So leave on a high note.

Mike Simonton

The 5th Doctor took that medallion off the Master in the classic story "the 5 Doctors" My first Doctor was the guy that played the Curator in Day of the Doctor. I've watched the classic who almost all the way through. Missing episodes weren't all missing back then. I'll probably watch anything Doctor Who in the future.

The sontarans are a clone race that's why there were two that looked like strax but they weren't strax Eleven was the third doctor to die/regenerate from old age, the first was the first doctor and the second was the war doctor

Charlie Matthews

I remember when Matt first appeared on the show, I was against him being there because David was the Doctor I knew, but after Matt's first episode he won me over. So when he announced that he was leaving I was really upset, because his Doctor was funny, zanny and could be really dark as well. He was best described as "an old man in a young man's body" which Matt did an amazing job at playing (even though he was the youngest actor to be the Doctor). Best part of this, was the cracker scene with 11 and Clara, because it was so sweet, sentimental and her helping him is probably something relatable when you get old.
