I really found this episode hard to get into or follow. I like Danny, his interactions with Clara are just so often awkward. Yeah, making the Doctor constantly rude and insensitive is a weird choice for this season, but that's what they decided to do. I do like the way they build up the mysterious woman and afterlife story here, I feel like it reinforces the significance of each death on the show to see them showing up there afterward.

I think the thing with the Doctor seeming stupider is that this version just does not care about social niceties, or even pretending to understand them. He shows intelligence in other ways, for example the heist plot last episode. His lack of understanding of social interactions is a choice, because he's a grumpy old man. Or as he described his relationship with Clara earlier "She's my carer. She cares so I don't have to."

Hello there. Now the Caretaker I like. It is still a filler episode but it’s full of witty banter and some jealousy, what is the Doctors problem with soldiers? He comes across as jealous and I’m like “bro you have Time Machine” get over it. By the way on the subject of Orson Pink, as a mixed race man myself do you know how rare it is that Orson would also have two parents one white one black and look like a past ancestor, more chance of winning the lottery if you play once a year. That guy behind the desk talking to old bald English Lex Luthor looks familiar, he’s a British comedian who works the circuit and mostly appears on ‘Mock the Week’ Writer of the episode Gareth Roberts heavily criticised both the episode and Series 8 as a whole on Twitter, blaming Steven Moffat for ruining the show with the new direction and Peter Capaldi for butchering his script. The tweets were deleted and there was no response from the BBC, Moffat, or Capaldi, maybe he was just pissed because this would be his final contribution to the series. Easy filler Capaldi episode I’ll probably have it on as background noise when I’m cleaning on a Saturday afternoon and it wouldn’t distract me. Beard rating it gets a Kevin Nash in 2000, basically a lazy rough overslept throw on some aftershave and leave the house in yah scruffs kinda look.
