After Show Reacts :) - Angel

ANGEL

Ugh I forgot just how emotional this episode is! I've seen it probably half a dozen times already and I still got teary eyed when Angel went to see both Wes and Cordy in the hospital. After all season of not wanting anything at all, now all he wants are his friends back. Or rather, his family.

Craig Evans

Continuing the Marvel theme, Wesley played the weird alien servant of Thanos that talks to Loki in the first Avengers movie.

Buffyverse had people losing hands long before MCU jumped on the bandwagon. Why would the evil law firm bring back Darla? Sweet twist,

Brendan O'Connor

Lindsey did a pretty good job in this episode, we should give him a Hand...oh

Chris (darkwater)

So by the end of season one, we basically have things setup for the remainder of the series. Without spoiling specifics.. anyone else agree?

Chris (darkwater)

omg i can't wait for you-know-what to happen you-know-when with you-know-who... ;) ... which really just means I'm excited to get into the rest of this series with ya!

Love this episode. Mostly cause of this critical turning point for Cordy. It’s definitely the beginning of a new life for her. And now both her and Angel and Wesley have a sense of real purpose. But yea, Charisma Carpenters acting in this episode is really touching and raw and makes me love the episode even more. And of course that cliffhanger with Darla! Joss Whedon continuity at its finest....

Robin Gibbons

And with this finale the show goes from good with a few great episodes, to lots and lots of great episodes with only a few good ones. Kinda like Buffy after season 1. To quote Whistler from Becoming Part 1, "You'll see what I mean..."

I wrote this before watching the episode, and your "disarming" line made this even better! Can't wait to see your take on next season!

Spencer Williams

I'd forgotten just how good this finale was. It's been a long time since I've watched it. So many things that this episode foreshadows, plus it gives Cordelia's character arc a huge push forward. Can't wait for Season 2. :)

"To Shanshu in LA" is wordplay on the '80s movie "To Live and Die in LA", get it? Live AND Die. :)

Oooh! Intense stuff! Does the season Q&A come early to Patreon?

I watched this on DVD long after the series was finished, so I knew the title "To Shanshu in LA" long before I actually watched it. All along I thought "Shanshu" was a person, and "To Shanshu in LA" was the beginning of a letter to this "Shanshu" person. Ummm, here's a thought... would "ShanShow" be a good nickname for a certain person? I'm just askin'.
