she has to use the money slowly or explain where she got it

And you thought the LAST episode made you uncomfortable. I hate this episode. It's a fantasy show... but this episode touches on the real life issue of the fragile relationship between citizens and law enforcement in big cities. Not to mention that some people in the United States sincerely believe in mercilessly cracking down on crime -- no matter how many innocent people are harmed.

Lately it seems like every week you are reacting to amazing Buffyverse episodes. B5 and A2 is a pretty great combo.

About you worrying about Wes dying. The funny thing about the Buffyverse, is that even if (or when) you are pretty sure that the characters are not going to die, you know that they can be HURT -- sometimes very badly, either physically or emotionally, and sometimes in ways that are permanent. The Buffyverse characters are vulnerable: more so than the characters on most other shows, because many many things have lasting consequences in the Buffyverse. And of course, you are usually not 100% sure that they WON'T actually DIE.

Honestly, this is one of the weaker episodes, but I thought it was a really underrated commentary on police brutality. ..It stepped away from the racist aspect for the most part, especially with Gun, the only main black character, playing devil's advocate a bit.. But, yeah, it was good commentary on reactionary american cop tactics

Alexis Cardarella

It mostly focused on socioeconomic systemic kind of prejudice with police

I gotta be honest, these kind of episodes are why back in the day I stopped watching Angel all the time, only tuning in when it was more Buffy-adjacent. I think it's great that the show found its own identity, I just found that identity a bit blah. HOWEVER, I'm excited to watch the episodes I skipped with you ASR <3

I really love this episode. Tackles real social issues, and has some great arcs for our heroes

Shaman615

According to the Buffyverse Wiki, Anne's real name is Joan Appleby

Rachel Espiritu

It's 17 years later, and this episode is somehow even more relevant now than before. God, it hurts.

Andrew Pulrang

Yeah, this one hit pretty close to home, now more than ever.

Bisibia

This one is fuckin intense

After this episode I had truly started shipping Gunn/Wes. This will always be one of my favorites.
