And so the best part of Thursday begins... :D

Bushwacked means ambushed or attacked suddenly and unexpectedly.

WB

Bushwhack basically means an ambush in this context. During the American civil war it was a term used for guerilla fighters and outlaws.

I think you're pretty much understanding Reavers; they're mysterious. Jayne is a jerk. Capt'n is Nathan and River is Summer. Joss packed a lot of awesome on a tiny boat. :)

Will

I resent the fact that the actual lyrics mean that we don't get you singing the theme tune. ;)

This is probably my least favorite episode of the series. There are good parts, but overall, not the best episode for me. You get only glimpses of Reavers, on purpose I suppose, to make them more intimidating, but the reactions of the crew towards talk of them should give an indication of the badness.

fun fact..... people have been trying to convince me to watch this show for many years... I guess it took a reactor of your caliber to actually get me to watch this show lol... now, i didn't watch the first one when you posted it... however, my curiousity peaked sometime after you posted the 2nd... so, ended up watch them both, and now i'm pissed, cause i'm hooked lmao....

I missed this show, glad that your reaction to it.

About Reavers (From the first ep): "Men gone savage on the edge of space... " "If they board us, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins into their clothing... and if we're very very lucky, they'll do it in that order." That's probably the clearest explanation of Reavers. They are BAD DUDES.

Kelly Parks

"It's impressive what nothing can do to a man." -- One of my favorite lines from Jayne. Also, a quick side note: Firefly is the only sci-fi TV show ever made ever that gets the fact that there is no sound in space. Spaceships do not whoosh as they go by and you do not hear the explosions during a space battle (unless it's your ship that's exploding). Instead Firefly just has awesome background music and that's all. As a former aerospace engineer I can't tell you how much I love that.

UTU49

I think a good alternate title for this episode would be "The Derelict".

There's a pretty rich web of relationships among the 9 characters.

Is it just me or is the volume on Firefly kind of low compared to other shows? Ive turned my laptop up, but it still sounds mumbly.

YES. I wish all my Buffy and Angel DVDs could have their theme songs replaced with Shan singing them. That said, for Firefly, I do like her adorable playing of that mysterious (Australian?) instrument that is clearly NOT a guitar. lol
