James

I actually really liked this show.

Patrick - Excelsior

Very brave of you Shan. Great reaction, really liked it.

James

I think this show is actually one of the most expensive shows ever made.

A surprise to be sure. But a welcome one. Fantastic show and game. I hope you keep reacting to it. And yes they did lie to the girl at the beginning as she was infected so she had to be killed unfortunately.

The actor (Gabriel Luna) playing Tommy was in Agents of Shield as Ghost Rider.

Eddie

Omg I’m excited!

In my opinion this was an incredible adaptation from the game. The sets and actors and everything about it was great. If you like the scope and sets of this, you should watch House of The Dragon. The sets on it are insane.

This was one of my favorite pilots in a long time. The opening scene was great especially because most of what he said is true. There are fungi that will control insects like zombies-ish. This episode was very faithful to the game. The difference between the game and show is they remove a lot of the actual gameplay sections and replaced them with more backstory for the characters. For instance, the game actually starts with Sarah on the couch when Joel walks in. In the show, that happens almost 20 minutes into the episode I believe. The connection you get with Sarah in the game is you play as her for the first section. Since you don’t get that connection in the show, they spent extra time making you like her. This was especially risky cuz most people assumed she was gonna die and if you played the game, you knew she dies. It is crazy how much of the dialogue and scenes in the first episode are lifted straight from the game. For people who haven’t played the game, it’s a completely new story. For those who have, they add a lot of backstory and you get to say “omg they said the line” a bunch which is fun. I am gonna keep pick this show back and forth with RWBY as long as Shan allows me to. PS: Sorry again about the infected/zombies

I wonder if it was another situation where she knew who he was but didn't call attention to it?

When the show came out, I had already played the game multiple times and the series is very faithful to it. When the game came out, no one was prepared for Sarah dying and it is greatly heralded as one of the saddest and most painful and shocking video game deaths of all time. Even knowing it was going to happen in the series, it's still a very powerful moment. If you are on the fence about watching more episodes, without giving anything away, I can tell you that it's not heavy on the zombies, nearly as much as the game.

That shot with the car is one of my favorites from this episode it was like a minute of just in perspective & they flushed out the daughter more in this than the game

I sincerely hope that you follow this with the rest of the season, as your schedule allows, of course, because it REALLY is a brilliant show. I'll even re-emphasize what Brandon said above, that if that's the only thing keeping you from watching further episodes, that this series doesn't have even remotely close the number of zombies as the game has. So much so that there's even a notable voice of game fans out there that have voiced that as a complaint about the series. ;)

I'd even go so far as to say that seeing her death in live action actually heightens the sadness/intensity of the moment.

Itchy ears from bus vibrations, eh? :P Intriguing ...

The same people who made the Game of Thrones intro made this intro, so it makes sense that you felt it was similar.
