In this new society led by virtual technologies and large industrial groups, laughter no longer exists. 

It is entirely prohibited to laugh, and pleasures such as having fun must be carried out within virtual environments. Laughing in public can have serious consequences, and even more so in private if you are reported.

However, the founders of this new system have granted a small space of freedom in this sad and oppressive regime so that citizens can maintain psychological balance. And this day became known as the Purge of Laughter!

One night a year, each citizen has the right to laugh out loud or make others laugh in any way they see fit, even against their will, for 12 hours from the national sound signal.
