Chunkhuna Matata- Part 4 (Patreon)

Simba has grown large enough to become a scientific marvel- but even with all the new attention, he's not worried, so long as he's got something good to eat. Hakuna Matata, right? Enjoy!

"Alright, Timon, Pumbaa…" Nala growled softly as she pinched the bridge of her muzzle. "I want to make sure I have everything straight. Simba came to your oasis for his… vacation."
"Uh-huh," Pumbaa nodded.
"You introduced him to this… box, filled with meat, that fills up every day."
"Yeah, you got it," Timon added.
"And… none of you, including my husband, the king, thought to question this?!" Nala demanded.
"Well, hey, it's like we say, Hakuna—"
"You finish that phrase, I will skin you, Timon!" Nala snapped.
"Right, of course, Your Highness," the meerkat said quickly.
"So now the king's been kidnapped— Wait." Nala folded her arms. "My husband is no mean hunter. He's a warrior. How'd these people who installed the white box even capture him to begin with?"
Timon and Pumbaa exchanged looks with one another. "Well… He might be, uh. A little slower than he used to be…"
On the other end of the oasis, two researchers were studying their latest find— the expansion of the wildlife reserve had led to all kinds of strange new biological discoveries, but this one took the cake. "He's… remarkable," one said to another. "I've never seen a lion like him. But… is it ethical to just… keep feeding him like this?"
"Consider it this way, we're never going to have a chance to study a case like this."
"Tch, I suppose… I just feel a little guilty, he only got this big because he got into the supplies we were leaving out as a part of the expansion."
"Well… he certainly expanded…"
Simba, for his part, had managed to lower himself in a clear shallow pond, relishing the latest morsel— he didn't even need to go out to the box anymore, these strange new people just brought helpings of meat to him. It was like the lionesses, only they didn't even expect him to work for it— and he had grown perfectly comfortable with that. However, all that food had to go somewhere— The lion's size and mass now beggared belief; his enormous belly sprawled out on the ground like a tidal wave, half sunk under the water and the rest cresting over the surface of the pond like an island, smothering his trunk-thick, blubbery thighs and weighing down on a rear large enough to crush an elephant. Reams of back fat were piled on top of one another like a half-melted snowdrift along a mountainside, his flabby arms were wrapped in thick reams of fat, and his chest was large, soft and pliable, like a pair of baby hippos resting in the sun. Rings of extra chins met his jaw and round cheeks, only most of them hidden by his mane.
He shifted some of his blubbery weight, and realized he might be having a little trouble actually getting out of the pond or standing— a shock raced through his huge, flabby body, but… he at least still had an ostrich leg to chew through. "Ah, well…" Simba murmured as he tore out another huge bite with his teeth. "I'll, uh, figure that out later… Hakuna Matata."
