Holy s**t! A Christmas miracle! In March! Thanks, Ames! What a week on the channel! Love this episode! I remember when I was 8, seeing Star Wars for the first time.....the canteen sequence, I thought...."oh, this is just like Star Trek!", thinking of this episode. I always thought the creatures in that canteen looked like third season Star Trek aliens! :D Ok, see you on the other side!

Holy doubleheaders, Batman!! What an unexpected bonus. Love the corridor fight scene -- Captain Kirk giving a literal meaning to the phrase "Kiss my ass!" when he butt-punches the Andorian 🤣🤣 You did it! You're now an official graduate of Starfleet Academy, Ensign Ames! 🖖🥇 🖖 On to Star Trek: The Motion Picture

You’re right, Mark Lenard played both Spock’s father and the Romulan commander in “Balance of Terror” .

Patrick Reynolds

Congratulations, Ames. Well done. Yes, as Kenneth said, Mark Lenard played the Romulan commander and Spocks dad. Spock's mother, played by Jane Wyman, will reprise the role in one of the movies. Spock struggles with his human and Vulcan half often. Vulcans are very passionate people. It was only the establishment of a logical culture that saved them from destroying themselves.

Patrick Reynolds

In the Star Trek universe, it was the Vulcans that revealed themselves to Earth after the Vulcans saw that humans had discovered faster than light (Warp) technology. I'm such a nerd. Forgive me.

This episode is pretty ahead of its time with all the multiple storylines: murder mystery, Spock-Sarek (father) conflict, alien ship, new planet's entry into the Federation. The story transitions are a bit janky at times, but to contemporary audiences it must have felt really fast-paced.

John Courtright

Congrats on your Starfleet Academy graduation Ames!! Well done!! Your reactions were thoroughly enjoyable!! Buckle up! The movies are going to be a ride!! 😆
