I actually snort laughed in the beginning of this movie 😅

I brought my kid to see this in the theater (at his request) and was surprised how much I liked it. As you said, fun and creative. Different. Putting on your reaction now. That's cool you were/are good at video games. I spent much of my life playing video games.

Love this movie! Excited to rewatch with you, Ames. Edgar Wright’s insane talent on full display adapting this graphic novel in such a fresh and vibrant way with a litany of (at the time) rising stars.

This is one of those films I can never watch enough! Edgar Wright's mini masterpiece that reeks of energy & originality! Great casting and always brings a huge smile to my face....😁(shout out to Jason Schwartzman (his best role ever ) Clifton Collins Jr and Thomas Jane as VEGAN police!!!) If you're officially on the Edgar Wright bandwagon check out Shawn of the Dead, Babydriver and Last night in Soho...

"You got a 1-up." That is always a good feeling to get a 1-up. (You nailed the prediction that he would use the 1-up at the end.) Glad the movie turn your sad mood around. You said the phrase "don't go breaking my heart" -- that is one of my favorite duets of all time. I am all for the Beastie Boys. Enjoyed your reaction.

They were planning to make a sequel to this with the same director, Scott Pilgrim Vs The Universe, but it bombed so bad on release the project was immediately scrapped - but then resurrected in toon form recently as Scott Pilgrim Takes Off - and I believe they got all the original actors to return to voice their characters

About to watch this now, I've never seen it, and I'm particularly happy I waited this long to watch it since you're Canadian! I'm going to get all the references I would miss, in real time! Booya! Not only that..... I just watched a Succession reaction, couldn't be more in the mood to watch something with Kieran Culkin! 😎 3, 2, 1.....play!

I don't know WHO exactly made up that 7 year gum thing.. but I dead ass believed it. and stayed away from gum for a long time LOL

It was great watching this one again with you, Ames! So creative! The casting was AMAZING and so many great lines! "He punched the highlights out of her hair!!" Lol. If you like Davie504 and bass guitar, you should check out this 60-second video from Charles Berthoud at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFZ92XikftU.

I really like this movie. The way it flows is so interesting, and it has has all the things I love: good music, video games, comic books, cheesy love stories, and interesting fight scenes

This was so much fun! I realize now why I didn't see it at the time; you know how when you see someone in a TV series, it's hard to see them again right away? That's what happened here! I was deep into Arrested Development at this time, I wasn't ready to see him in something else! (Turns out his Arrested Development girlfriend, Ann (Mae Whitman) is in this movie too!) Watching it now, I loved the stack of cast, all of whom I know (now). And loved the videogame/comic-book/indie-band/rock-club hybrid, all put into a live action movie! I must confess, I was more into the comedy of it, and could have used maybe 4 short fights instead of 7, or whatever it was, but that's why this reaction was so helpful! It turns out it wasn't the Canadian stuff I needed you for, it was for all the Nintendo/gamer references! (And all the fight scenes had great comedy in them)./ Also, I know people get on CGI all the time (understandably), but I felt like this was a great use of CGI. And I LOVED all the transitions and the fast editing between scenes. Like an Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind thing (another good use of CGI). In short: had a great time!!!!

Gaaa, here are the movies I jotted down as I'm watching, for your radar: "24 Hour Party People" (2002), "Royal Tenenbaums"(2002), "Repo Man" (1984), and it's already on the AFI list, but I saw this directly in the lineage of "The Graduate" (1967). (a total compliment!). (And I'm assuming you've already seen "Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind"!). Thanks again, Ames!!! I'm really excited to see what you pick next week!

Fun change of pace. Seeing it again, I wonder what's so great about Ramona. Did the comics/movie do Knives dirty? 🤣🤔
