Hank Fonda makes his debut!

Great Choices this week! 12 Angry Men was Fonda's first movie as a producer. He also played Juror #8 (Davis). Except for a couple short scenes, the camera never leaves the jury room. Still, the intense drama is palpable.

"American Graffiti" was George Lucas's 2nd movie he directed. Produced by Francis Ford Coppola to raise money for his company, American Zoetrope, it was an instant hit. The budget to shoot the film was less than a million dollars and the principle photography was finished in 28 days. All done on a shoe-string. The biggest cost was securing the rights to the songs that were played throughout the movie. It is a delightful movie.

What a week, I'm going to have cancel plans! :D I'll just give one bit of trivia for American Graffiti: the entire sequence at the dance, everything - including the scenes in the two bathrooms - was done in ONE NIGHT. The entire sequence! Whatever one thinks of the movie, that's still an impressive feat of directing (and acting) (and crew work!). (Of course, you can say the same thing about "12 Angry Men"!)

12 Angry Men and American Graffitti are classics.
