Kane Is Able

OH MAN! I want someone to react to Defending Your Life so bad! Please vote for that great movie!

Teyon Alexander

My initial reaction when I got the notification was “what drama?! I hope everything is ok “ then immediately realized my mistake. Lol

Paul Cox

I wouldn't dissuade anyone from watching The Blind Side, but there's a lot of stuff that's come to light in recent years that would be worth reading as a chaser.

Clay F

A great list. My fellow Jen patrons gave awesome noms.

Randolph Tirazona

All the President's men, Margin call, Munich... Although I haven't seen the movie, I watched Munich televised live on the news. A great show is one that you connect with or effectively connects "you" to the story!

Toc

Another great poll, Ames! May the best film win!!! 🤩

John Courtright

I was 0 for 5 on any of my noms making the list, lol, but plenty of good choices here.

Catchermag

There’s nothing more self reflective to me than realizing what a snob I can be when I type….. then quickly erase snarky comments on these polls. Lol it’s an exercise in restraint. I’m just a jerk 😑

Bill Maurer

"Best Years of Our Lives". One of the all time greats. Talked about PTSD before PTSD was ever talked about. There are a lot of great movies on the list. Thanks and Enjoy !!!!!

I wish the polls were by decade

Jeremy V.

Oh please!!!!! In the heat of the night! Is the perfect movie!🍿

Jeremy V.

I wish we could make these big ones without multi-votes for other picks. Single votes would show us where these movies really stand amongst themselves.

David Crabtree

My top 2 picks would be Remember the Titans and Gran Torino.

Paul Cox

Not only do more reactors need to see Paris, Texas, but more people in general need to see Paris, Texas.

AJ

Waiting this one out might actually kill me

Steve Maxwell

There are some great films on your list. The Last picture show is a unique film a true stand alone classic. Grand Torreno is one of Clint Eastwoods best. My choice is The Best Years of Our Lives, not just because of the great cast and their performances but how important the social importance of the story.❤️

RFK Fan

GREAT LIST!! Don't see a single film here that doesn't deserve to be... ❤️❤️❤️

Darryl Garrett

Saw “Remember The Titans” with my wife on our first date.

Thomas Wetherell

Ugh, so many good choices. I’m rooting for Munich though. It probably won’t win but it’s really worth watching and criminally underrated.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Looks like "In the Heat of the Night" is an early leader. It won the Best Picture Oscar for 1967 beating out other heavy weights like "The Graduate" and "Bonnie and Clyde". It's a classic police drama but I'm also rooting for a dark horse selection: "The Grapes of Wrath" directed by John Ford and based on John Steinbeck's novel. Jane Darwell as Ma Joad was excellent.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

"Remember the Titans" is based on a true story of a high school football team. The school, T.C. Williams High School, was just down the street from where I used to reside in Arlington, Virginia.

Henry Graham

The Best Years of Our Lives contains what may be the most nakedly honest and moving moment I've ever seen on screen, and a truly shocking one to see in a major studio production of the 1940s. It's one of the greatest films ever made.

Spooky Dooky

Gran Torino, because its a pretty good story. Unless you look at it being written through the eyes of a racist. But if not, then its a good story.

Spooky Dooky

The Blind Side is a great story too. But recently that football player came out and said they took all the money and he never got a dime. Lol

Spooky Dooky

Sorry for the Gloomy chat. I hope i didnt ruin anyone's day. May we can watch something happy, like Firefly! 😚

redddfer44

Hot list alert! I wouldn't mind almost any of them winning. As a 70s fanboy, I'm happy to vote for AtPM and the quintessential 70s director Altman's 90s tour de fucking force Short Cuts.

David Crabtree

Fun fact: Gran Torino was filmed here in southeast Michigan in 2007 and I got to meet Clint Eastwood when he filmed at my dad's VFW.

Michael Weiner

I would highly recommend almost every one of these movies, but if forced to pick just one it would be The Best Years of Our Lives.

OkieBoomer

I've seen no one react to Sling Blade and that's a loss. I predict someone will react to it eventually, followed shortly by an avalanche of reactions. It's a great film.

Catchermag

The fact that To Kill a Mockingbird is at least third currently makes me happy. Gregory Peck was a class act and that’s a great book and movie.

AJ

ONE VOTE!!!

Retro Maven

Glad to see All the Prez Men doing so well. So appropriate for our current times.

James Rogers

Not that its germane to this poll as his work isn't represented; but rest in peace Donald Sutherland. So many great films. Too bad Ordinary People didn't make the cut.

AJ

OMG this calls for a 3 movie DRAMA WEEK

Catchermag

To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely a great win here. Excited to see the watchalong.

Clay F

I was pulling for Lost in Translation (2003) or All The President's Men (1976), but can't complain about To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

Toc

Wow! What a contest! Three completely different - and worthy - movies, from three different time periods! What a Patreon! 🤣 Big round of applause for the Mighty Mockingbird, taking all comers!!!!!
