Sledge’s finale is so sad 😭 And contrasted by the fact that Leckie gets to be with Vera ❤️

Finally watched this video in full due to a long work week. I can definitely understand those who become pacifists because of stories like this. Me, personally though, and because of my family experiences (my family was almost wiped out by the Japanese), I can’t reconcile peace or peaceful resistance without war in some situations. Without America coming in, my homeland would’ve been wiped from the map. My granddad was a soldier who fought against the Japanese and from an early age, I’ve always honored soldiers and believed that war while regrettable is truly correct at times. I read about the stories of men who fought in world war 2. The sacrifices men and women made for us in Nam and Iraq. The history of conflict and how war defined civilizations like Greece, Rome, and so on. Spartans defending their city state from a foreign invader. A Roman Empire reaching the heights of power for thousands of years and legacy because of their military and other innovations. Although it didn’t completely solve everything that’s wrong with this country, the civil war in the end had to happen to strip our nation of slavery. Without us going to war against Hitler and Japan, half the world would’ve been under the control of the most evil governments/megalomaniacs in world history. So many innocent people out in the world are suffering because they’ve been invaded. Wouldn’t it be the the right thing to do to go and save them since all other methods (namely peaceful efforts) have failed? It’s definitely a controversial topic but I’ve always found it easier to justify war particularly in the situations aforementioned situations. A necessary evil and there are as many contradictions as there are negatives. For instance, there’s a reason why cultures throughout history made war part of their culture and way of life.
