Merry Christmas. Have a great day

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

''The true meaning of Christmas is a Festival of the very highest order in cosmic and human life. In the days when genuine occult teaching was not disowned as it is today by materialistic thought but was the very wellspring of the life of the peoples, the Christmas Festival was a kind of memorial, a token of remembrance of a great happening on the Earth. At the hour of midnight the priests gathered around them their truest disciples, those who were the teachers of the people, and spoke to them of a great Mystery. This Mystery was connected with the victory of the Sun over the darkness. There was a time on the Earth when the light triumphed over the darkness. And it happened thus: in that epoch, all physical, all bodily life on Earth had reached the stage of animality only. The highest kingdom upon the Earth had only reached a stage at which it was preparing to receive something higher. And then there came that great moment in evolution when the immortal, imperishable soul of man descended. Life had so far developed that the human body was able to receive into itself the imperishable soul. These ancestors of the human race stood higher in the scale of evolution than modern scientists believe, but the higher part of their being, the divine ‘spark’ was not yet within them. The divine spark descended from a higher planetary sphere to our Earth which was now to become the scene of its activity, the dwelling-place of the soul which henceforward can never be lost to us'' - Rudolf Steiner, The Festivals and Their Meaning

Right on! I haven't seen this since I was a kid! (But I used to see it every year!) Perfect! Thanks for everything this year, Ames, thanks for all of your never-ending hard work on this channel. Three movies per week, plus an edit, plus keeping on top of ten millions comments across multiple platforms.....all while maintaining what seems like a full life/schedule. Just typing it out is making me woozy! Hope you take a nice long break for yourself, give those eyes a break! Merry Grinchmas! (and one more time: THANK YOU!!!!)

AJ

Yessss! Merry Grinchmas!

Kim

Merry Christmas Ames, hope the family is happy and well.❤️

If you notice in the Jim Carey movie, Jim is doing his best to do a Boris Karloff imitation in his Grinch performance, modeled after the voice actor from this cartoon. Also, absolutely no one should go on to youtube and watch the "Kill Grinch" skit from last weekend's Saturday Night Live. I wouldn't suggest anyone watch that, unless you want to corrupt your very soul. Bwwhhaa-ha-ha! Merry Christmas to one and all!

I find it ironic that you said that you don't like Christmas, but that you do like giving presents, when the entire point of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is that the presents are the least important part. What is important is celebrating with friends and family. Also, I find it sad that, for a younger generation, the Jim Carrey movie is what they think of when they hear "Grinch". That movie has pretty much nothing to do with the original Dr. Seuss story. It is completely different in every way -- tone, message, plot. It's unrecognizable.

For those that celebrate, Merry Christmas, and for that don’t, I wish you all the best…..I hope that your time is spent surrounded by family, friends, and warmth. And for those that are alone, I hope that your time is spent in joy in that solitude as well. Happy Holidays everyone. A special thanks to Ames, who brought us all together under a mutual love for film. Grinch my ass. 🤨

Thanks Ames for prompting me to rewatch this. The colors are good. I remembered so much of it. I have never really watched the Jim Carrey one. My extended family doesn't exchange gifts (we give in our immediate families) and instead choose to simply get together and see each other (usually the Saturday after Christmas) and bring food to share. An aspect I like about Christmas time is typically quieter/slower at work (unless there is some big end-of-the-year demand). I was in Morocco on Christmas Day in 2017, and it was just like any other day there. But Christmas Day has always been a good day for me. Happy Holidays to you Ames and everyone on the channel.

Happy Holidays Ames to you and your family

So, this version was narrated by the great Boris Karloff (the Frankenstein monster in the 1931 film), the songs sung by the amazing basso profundo of Thurl Ravenscroft (who did narration and songs for Disney's Haunted Mansions), and it was animated by one of the greatest animators of all time, Chuck Jones. You've briefly seen Chuck Jones as "Mr. Jones", the man at the bar that Billy Pelzer shows his drawings to in Gremlins. When Jones did his initial sketches for the character, Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss) pointed out that Jones made the Grinch look more like himself than the illustrations in the book. And it remains true. Happy Holidays!

Max was always the star of the show for me! I remember laughing my head off as a kid at Max riding on the back of the Grinch's sleigh. Of course all of the musical instruments in Whoville were a big hit as well! That was a fun re-watch. BTW, I don't think your "Grinch heart" could grow three times bigger, Ames. (Two times bigger, max!) 😂

I still recall my excitement in 1966 when this came on and my ten-year-old eyes saw Boris Karloff's name in the opening credits. A great last minute gift. So glad I joined your little community. Thanks for a fabulous year of film.
