Still my fave NIC Cage role…

Nicolas Cages 3 characters from Raising Arizona, Moonstruck and Vampires Kiss walk into a bar. The bar collapses, burns down, and marries Cher. The ashes then combine to steal the Declaration of Independence.

The "Woody Woodpecker" tattoos were (and still are) the logo of Clay Smith Cams (minus the cigar of the logo), who made camshafts for drag racers... Mr. Horsepower decals were on many dragsters, and were included on the decal sheet for many model car kits. Part of Kar Kulture -- see Tom Wolfe's "The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby."

First watch. I liked it. Hilarious. Entertaining. My 8th Coen Brothers film. “Wasn’t easy with that son-of-a-bitch Reagan in The White House.” Quirky. Interesting plot twists. Funny all the way through including the touching parts in the final 10 minutes or so. Good acting (Cage, Hunter, Goodman, Frances McDormand, etc.). A wild comedy with good dialogue and some good camera shots. Hyperbole as you said. Slapstick. Agree that good secondary characters. Thanks for the reaction. There is a cult following of Raising Arizona. Holly Hunter is also in the Coen Brothers movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (2000). Holly Hunter is great with William Hurt (R.I.P.) in “Broadcast News” (1987) (comedy/romance) [RT=98%]. I think my favorite Cage movie is "Leaving Las Vegas" (1995) (drama/romance) in which Cage won Best Actor Oscar. Frances McDormand (in the Coen Brothers move “Fargo") is young and pretty w/Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe in “Mississippi Burning” (1988) – a crime thriller (not the most accurate depiction) that I have nostalgia for.

Ames, I'm so glad you landed on this movie, it's definitely a fave! Nobody plays a quirky oddball like Nic Cage, he & Holly Hunter really breathed so much life into these 2 weird characters. Same with the rest of the cast. Pitch perfect performances. 👏🏻 Perhaps you could get in the practice of having a pad & pencil to jot down points you wanna remember for the ending commentary, so you don't do so much talking during dialogue. I love your enthusiasm & your appreciation for the art form. You're providing a really nice channel to enjoy, & I do enjoy it. I just hope my input will be valued as well. Have a good rest of the week. 💖

I actually ran into "Tex" Cobb the bounty hunter actor about 25 years ago. I was about 8 or 9 years old shopping with my mom, then she grabs me and runs up to this big stranger and says "That's Tex Cobb!" He was very polite, a little bit shy actually. But it's funny my mom was so star struck that she ran up to him without a second thought.

He's really an enigma... Plays oddball characters effortlessly (Raising Arizona, Wild at Heart, Valley Girl) but when he's given a really juicy role he also rises to the occasion and delivers Oscar worthy performances (Leaving Las Vegas, Pig, Birdy)....
