How can a sequel not only live up to the original, but also exceed all expectations? Before Sunset completely wrecked me in the most beautiful way. It’s unreal how a movie so simple can feel so massive--every word, every glance, just hits. I was giddy, heartbroken, in awe, and totally swept up in the quiet intensity. It pulled at every heartstring I have and left me shocked by how deeply it moved me. Just… wow. holy cow. I died.

ENJOY this. I had so many thoughts going through my mind, I couldn't say them allllll!

So interested to see where this goes...

One of the best trilogies in film. I adore them as a couple and will never NOT be in love with Julie Delpy.

One of my favourite moviegoing experiences was seeing this film in a preview screening with a packed audience, and hearing the collective gasp that went up from the crowd as we watched that perfectly judged ending! This really is a wonderful film, so tender and rich. It captures a feeling of regret over lost time and the burning desire to hold onto a moment with someone for as long as possible. Just thinking about it makes my heart swell.

You broke my heart with this one, kid. You blubbering fool lol….don’t make me co-cry on a Saturday morning! The perfection of the movie comes from the small details that our attention either catches subconsciously or see out of the corner of our eyes. *spoilers* …him awkwardly grabbing her and pulling her onto the bench in his lap and her not immediately getting off….their positional changes moving in an orbital magnetic dance on the boat…..the way we see the boat approach the dock (as we fear the end is coming) and they are oblivious to it……the car driving into the narrow alley where there is no turning around and it comes to an end at the bollards and we know if he walks past them he’s never getting on the plane….the slow movement up the stairs into permanence. It’s all so romantic and real. A couple things I want to note. For me, being a gen x-er, his looking through her music collection at the end was the clincher. When I was dating, ending up at someone’s apartment after a date was always a little awkward and there was always a question as to what was going to happen….until they ‘allow’ you to put your hands on their music. If they let you pick something and put it on without discussion, that’s intimacy of the highest level. What is going to happen has been decided. Second thing is about the cheating topic. I absolutely agree with you on being against it, and I could feel your mood change a little when he said he was married, like you weren’t sure if you should root for their romance anymore. I look at it this way though. In the context of these movies, it’s necessary to have our expectations of perfection upended. They are imperfect, it makes them more relatable and real. I prefer them that way. These arent Hallmark movies. I guess that’s just how I see it. Lastly, thank you for starting, continuing, and loving this series. Another reason I know I’m in the right place.

I’m happy Jesse and Celine are together but I do hope they told the driver not to wait! One of my all-timer favorite movies. Thank you for watching this!

I watched Before Sunrise many times in the late 90's. I think I now may agree with VivendoBem in that Before Sunset is becoming my favorite in the trilogy. Your reaction helped in being moving. The two (Jesse and Celine) seem like they should be together. She does somewhat lose it for a moment toward the end. Though, the actual ending is good. Agree that the acting and dialogue = natural. Julie Delpy is cute/pretty and a good actor. A pleasant reaction and I liked your outro. That's 2 reactions (HGF and this) in a row that you had big-time facial communication going. Jesse on his wife: "I don't love her the way she needs to be loved." I may have commented this before. Linklater lives just outside of Austin. My son lives in Austin and saw Linklater in an Austin grocery store about a year ago -- and said no one in the store seemed to recognize Linklater.

My discord comments were all spoilers so just gonna say I loved it and can't wait to see what happens next.

I'm so glad you liked this one Ames! What a fascinating study in "What if?" This film reminds me of the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." (Can you believe we had to wait 9 years for the release of the second film and another 9 years for the third installment?) ***** SPOILERS ***** It is crazy to think about how Jesse & Celine's lives might have changed if they had met as planned in Vienna. It is far from certain they would have still been together nine years later, but the connection they have when they see each other again is so powerful, it's impossible not to wonder. This interaction killed me: Jesse: I'm serious. I think I wrote it, in a way, to try to find you. Celine: Okay, that's - I know that's not true, but that's sweet of you to say. Jesse: I think it is true. ... and that ending though!! Awesome reaction!!
