The introduction of the Holodeck was amazing! It'll become the best place for a lot of great stories and fun moments not only in TNG but the entire franchise going forward.

Great reaction Ames! I was looking forward to this one and yeah the holodeck is carried out more in the series and in the TNG movies so this one was the introduction to that. Also Lawrence Tierney is in this as Cyrus Redblock. He was the boss of the gang “Joe” in Reservoir Dogs. It’s cool that TNG like the original series has these appearances from known actors. Had fun watching with you keep up the good work!

Great reaction! I remember the holographic asking about what would happen to him and his family bumming me out when I watched the episode the first time it aired. To answer you question about the 1940's era clothes they changed into, replicators. I think there are later episodes about the holodeck where they make references to replicating clothes for other programs.

Since you mentioned it and it’s been brought up, I think the reason seasons 1 and 2 aren’t as endearing to some is simply because they are standalone. There are strong story arcs in the later seasons that catapult the series into the stratosphere and made it so popular. There are strong standalone episodes in the early seasons , but they are more like the Original series which didn’t have arcs. But like that series, they do define and build the characters, so definitely important. I’m enjoying these reactions, but when you get to season 3….Im gonna be just giddy.

Lawrence Tierney, the big guy who played Redblock, was a pretty well known actor in noir films. His first big starring role was in Dillinger, 1945. I say this just to also point out that the poster tagline to that movie was “The crime orgy of DILLINGER, his history is written in blood, bullets and blondes!!”….HA! I love that. Noir rules.

Ah the Holodeck a great story generator ! Two of my all time favorite TNG episodes involve Data playing Sherlock Holmes and what can happen if you aren't careful with your language when programming variables . The first of these episodes in season two "Elementary, Dear Data" is fun, the second in season six "Ship in a Bottle" is brilliant ! As a diehard "Niner" I must admit DS9's Holosuite episodes were more goofy and didn't have as much intensity as the TNG ones. Can't wait to see your reaction to the above mentioned !

I think Ames likes to go in to episodes/movies pretty much as blank as possible, not reading the synopsis beforehand etc. Mentioning future plots, even in the slightest form, may take away some of her fun finding this stuff our during the episode. Best to not mention any specifics of future episodes.
