The 2nd Lottery Winner Stargate (1994)!

Not what I was expecting! (I don't know what I was expecting), But I had so much fun! Love the '90s cheese, one-liners and the concept. This film coulda have been much, much more, but love it for what it is (and Kurt's bleach blonde haircut).

Enjoy! Drop your comments below!

Loved this movie and the TV series, very interesting! Glad you watched this.

During the filming, James Spader locked himself in his trailer because the dialogue was so cheesy. Finally, Kurt Russell went to him said "That's why they pay you a million dollars, if it was great, you'd do it for free." You may also want to check out Fantastic Voyage from 1966 or if you do a pre-1970s poll it should be on it.

Sweet! One of my favorite movies and by far one of my favorite TV shows. Its a shame so few venture to this one. I think people are afraid to tackle it, especially the show. If you do move to the show, pretty sure you wont be dissapointed. I will say, I thank the sun God this was Roland emmerich and not micheal bay 🤣😅👁

Totally something I would never post because what’s the point in telling people I don’t like a movie. BUT for this one I was SO looking forward to it when i went to the theater. I was (am) a total dork, sci-fi nerd and 24 years old, they hyped up the movie a lot in the marketing. But man, once they got through the gate, the promise of otherworldly mystery turns into (spoilers) a movie in the desert with humans. I was underwhelmed. I have heard great things about the show though, one day I’ll give it a shot.

This has been one of my all-time faves since it came out. It reminds me very much of the short stories found in the old Analog Sci-Fi anthologies from the 70's and 80's. When viewed through that lens, it all makes sense - the rapid pace, the efficient dialogue, the quick shift in tone/focus per chapter... it's like reading a science fiction short story in four acts.

The movie is good, but the TV show is so much better! I understand Russell had to play a butt-hole character, but I like him when he's a good guy. I will say the Movie is a great intro to the TV show. The only things I will say about the show is that you really MUST see it, and they poke fun at Star Trek and The Wizard of Oz a lot. Had a great time watching this with you today. Be well, Greg

The movie is a great introduction to Stargate..the TV series which there are 3..Stargate SG1..Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe..these would be a serious undertaking..SG1 is 213 episodes over 10 seasons..Atlantis is 99 episodes over 5 seasons and Universe is 40 episodes over 2 seasons..that's a hella lots.😂 So be careful choosing this franchise.😂😂

James Spader's character went from piecing one or two words together to fluent Egyptian Alianese in no time, lol. Fun movie, I liked them taking the pyramids mystery and give their own spin on it. Outside the two leads, not the best casting and dialog, but when you turn your brain off and get out the popcorn, it's a fun ride.

This was fun! You should definitely check out the series Ames on your own Ames. Although reacting to the pilot episode would be pretty cool as well. I'm also realizing that the Disney movie "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" (2001) begins exactly the same as this movie. In the first 10 minutes of both movies a brilliant archeologist/linguist is called a joke by his fellow academics, is out of money, gets approached in the rain by a mysterious woman. Disney totally stole some plot points from this movie.
