Bjorn has entered the building (little tennis reference). Can't wait to watch it in a couple of hours.

I know you have a plan for watching on here, I would love to see you react to all of it but maybe between the ones you watch with us you should watch the others so that you see the full story and characters, even if we can’t see you enjoy it all

Ames! I upgraded my membership but still can’t find any Sex, Lies, and Videotape reaction! Have you published it yet?

This truly was a turning point for TNG! The introduction of The Borg was wonderful and will definitely be a terrifying presence.

So, two things now that I’ve watched this. 1. You’re not missing anything about Guinan that would clear up things, she’s supposed to be mysterious. The few episodes with her you’ve missed have solely had her as an advice giving bartender. This episode is the first to suggest backstory. 2. It’s a good thing you’re going all in next season. As I was watching this, before you dropped that news, I was thinking that any poll about extra season 3 Episodes would be a blood bath 😂 …..so, good call.

I'm glad that you got to get a sense of the show before the introduction of the Borg. It might seem not that impressive to a modern viewer, but at the time, the shift in tone to where the viewer actually thinks, "Wow, the Federation is in actual danger" was very effective, in part because it felt so different from the cozy, low-stakes tone that syndicated TV tended to happen at the time. (I guess "Conspiracy" from Season 1 also delved into this territory.) As an aside: I just now realized you're watching a version of the show where the original dramatic cuts to commercial breaks seem to be edited down. (I guess to make the show flow more naturally?) I don't have Paramount, so I take it this is how they're presenting the series? It's no biggie, I guess, but the OCD part of me can't help but think that you're getting slightly different "pacing" from the original cuts, when the camera would linger on a character, and we'd get a dramatic music swell, then fade to black.

And now that I've finished your closing comments: Don't worry. You didn't really miss any character setup with Guinan. The hints they scattered in this episode about who she is was just as much of a mystery to the audience of the time as it was to you. Also, thrilled that you're going "all in" for Season 3. Admittedly, there are going to be the occasional stinkers, but I'd rather that, than you missing out on some of my favorites.

Totally in on all season three, though episodic the character and some story points really start to build there, blank happens, and blank does redacted, and blank blank redacted episodes are vital. And others are right about the Guinan lore that builds, you probably have seen her important moments to this point. I somehow missed your closing my first time watching. All character moments are important. Season three picks up, even ten episodes a season would be too few

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

"TNG turning point" is a very appropriate description. I'm always an advocate of S1 and S2 being better than folk give them credit for and this episode, among others, are no small reason why. Sure, there is a preponderance of weaker eps in the first two seasons but there are some real gems to be found as well. We're going to want to keep this one in the back of our minds going forward for sure. Q is such a little shit. But let's be honest we love him for it😆

That is frigging awesome news going all in for S3. I was preparing going to battle for my picks, but now we all get to be happy! None more so than Ames, cos watching every episode will greatly enhance your TNG journey. Good times ahead.

Guinan is a cool character. Before this episode, there were only 4 episodes (one being The Measure of a Man) with Guinan. As Catchermag indicated, you didn't miss much. Q (fan favorite) does seem all powerful -- making Q episodes some of my least favorite episodes when watching the series as it aired, but now I am more open minded about it. Positives are that John de Lancie is an excellent actor and Q scenes can have good dialogue.

One of many turning points in Trek/Federation history. I'm excited you're going all in for the next season. It really picks up from here and don't worry, you'll learn more about the Borg in due time. Now, we gotta get you a trek uniform ASAP. 🤣

Fantastic news regarding season 3! Thank You!!

Great episode and a great reaction. What would you do if you were Q

Eric Mueller

I don't know if you take personal requests but if you do the movie Annihilation and the tv show From would be great to see reactions to.
