Hey Crew!

Happy Labour Day Weekend to all my North American Friends! I hope you all had a nice, long weekend and a great end to Summer! How SAD! Although September tends to be quite lovely, I don't get excited for fall, especially because of the doom and gloom the rain carries with it. So I will make the most of the rest of the pleasant weather as I can!

Here's the September watch-along lineup, it's stacked!

I had to pre-record some reactions due to life and work chaos, so we're kicking things off by wrapping up last month's poll runner-up, Hot Shots! (1991)! Then, in the following weeks, we’ll be diving into the top two poll winners: First up, A Fish Called Wanda (1988), then Time Bandits (1981), The Abyss (1989) (Theatrical Cut), and Sideways (2004). Plus, we’ll keep rolling with the AFI list, Star Trek: TNG, and the next Wheel Winner. And my personal pick K-Pop Demon Hunters! Literally everyone from 5 to 75 is hyping this one, so I’m pumped to check it out. Epic Month! Catch ya in the comments!

This Week;

TNG Tuesday - Season 3 Episode 4 "Who Watches the Watchers" GREAT Episode!

Wednesday - Poll Runner-up Hot Shots! (1991) friggen Hilarious! I loved it!

Thursday - Hot Shots! YT Edit

AFI Friday - Shane (1953)

Thank you all for all your support here on Patreon! We had such a fun live yesterday! I was brain-fried! But thanks to those who all came out! Can't wait to hang out again!

Shane !!!!! Great movie and probably top three Westerns of all time.

Fun! I’m really excited to revisit Sideways, I haven’t seen it in almost a decade but I loved it.

Blimey! Already edited Hot Shots? You really are ahead of the game this week! :D

Shaaaaaaannnnne!!!

Wow, Shane is such a classic. So many undertones with an ending that still has some talking about.

The Abyss is awesome, although this is one case where the special edition is an absolute must. That is the vision of Cameron whereas the theatrical cut was only shortened because the studio didn't think the audience could handle anything beyond 2 hours and is therefore missing some important build up and scenes.

Mike Redford

Sideways! I can't wait for that one. Paul giamatti as always is brilliant.

Clay F

Yay for Sideways and more TNG.

Really excited by Sideways! Expect to become a complete wino after watching it! 🍷🥴

Please stick with the Theatrical Cut of the Abyss. I might be in the minority, but I feel like the special edition of that movie basically is so cheesy that it ruins it. If you're curious afterwards, you can always watch the Special Edition as a second impression. ... I know this is anecdotal, but it honestly seems like when first-time reactors watch the Special Edition, they walk away non-plussed. Meanwhile, when Coy of the Reel Rejects watched the plain Theatrical, he was elated and said it was one of the best movies he'd ever seen. I have a theory that people might be enthusiastic about the extra footage of the Special Edition because (much like the Donner Cut of Superman 2), they're already familiar with the regular, solid version of the movie. So when they see bonus footage, to them it's just cool extra stuff they didn't get to see before, so their initial impression of the movie as rock-solid storytelling isn't negatively affected.

I'm so excited to see you watch Kpop Demon Hunters!!!!!

I can't believe you're doing a reaction for Sideways, one of my all time favorite movies!!!! I'm so excited! If you haven't recorded the viewing yet, make sure you watch with a glass of wine!! (not merlot)

I am sure that you have heard this comment, but YOU MUST watch the Extended Version of The Abyss instead of the Theatrical Version. It is about 25 minutes longer. When the original version came out, you could tell that there was something missing, it just did not feel complete. When the Special Edition was released, it felt so much more complete, including a subplot that was added back in. The studio made James Cameron cut down the film. He did not have the pull that he has now. Special Edtion...so much better!!!

Very excited for Time Bandits. In my top 10 favorite movies. So much fun and weird in the best ways only the 80's could bring.
