“I loved you in Wall Street!”….. 🤣🤣🤣

A loner? No. I own it. That is the whitest white part of the eye I've ever seen. Do you floss? It's Vicks. I have a cold.

Carrying up the stairs was referencing Gone With the Wind. The food stuff on the belly was 9 1/2 Weeks (1986) reference. Of course the Bogey during the dog fight at the end was none other than Humphrey Bogart. Quite a good joke on his nickname. Lloyd Bridges is fantastic in both Hot Shots! films. Now all you have to do Ames is watch Rambo: First Blood Part II and The Guns of Navarone and you're good to go for the sequel.

Ames! What a great movie! We watched it for the first time together. It was really funny. I don't know if you just didn't recognize the stars, or if you don't mention them on purpose. The Admiral is Lloyd Bridges. He was Steve McCroskey in Airplane (I picked the wrong week to stop smoking!) He is also the father of Jeff and Beau Bridges (I hope you've heard of them). Kent Gregory was played by Cary Elwes, better known as Robin Hood in the Men In Tights version. Many of the co stars have been in movies and TV for years, and if you hadn't seen their shows, you probably wouldn't recognize them. But they are good character actors. Efrem Zimbalist Jr. is a unique personality. He did acting during his career, but his main claim to fame in the 1960 and 70s was TV Show Production. He had some great hit shows, and starred in the hit show The FBI. He has a long and storied career. What surprised me is that Ryan Styles was in this movie. I love him! Is a master of improv and was a regular on the hit show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" If you've never seen it, you really need to sample it. It is total improve from suggestions from the audience.. The best show were when Drew Carey was the host. Plenty on Youtube. Thanks so much for brightening my day. Be well, Greg :)

I'm a Hot Shots virgin. I'm just not very good at it.

Lol, the holiday threw me off, I'm still on a Tuesday mentality, didn't realize this was up! Love that you were able to get many of the references, that's such a great feeling!

Ahhh... I love soup. At least I think I love soup. Blasted shell! It's either soup or duck. Which one do you shoot?

AstralCars

One of the few comedies where the sequel is actually funnier. Hope you get to Part Deux soon!

Mike Tinsley

Yes please! If there is going to be another 90's spoof movie it's gotta be Hot Shots: Part Deux or Loaded Weapon.

Mike Tinsley

So glad you watched this, such a fun movie. I think the key to a good parody is having it feel like a serious film. You mentioned the costumes and effects, it's gotta be on point for a parody otherwise it feels lesser, or off. If you enjoyed this, you would like the sequel, so check it out if you are ever in the mood for something silly and fun.

I put this on your YT to help your algorithms. But I'll put them here, too. This is such a great spoof movie! Of course any movie with an Abrahams producing or directing is going to be an Airplane! type movie. Did you recognize the Admiral from Airplane! He was McCroskey (I picked a bad week to quit smoking, drinking, etc.) What a mashup of Top Gun and Stripes! Just wait until you see Cary Elwes in a Mel Brooks movie! He's great! Wow! Efrem Zimbalist Jr.! I haven't seen or heard of him since the 70s. He was another Jack Webb type. He produced many many TV shows back then. The falling out of an ambulance actually happened at a NASCAR race in Maryville, TN years ago. I live about an hour from there. Here's the "victim's" recollection of the event It's HILARIOUS!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbxnD6nU4Mw The falling down the stairs was a spoof of both Gone With The Wind and McLintock (You really should see it. John Wayne and his son do a comedy movie!) Remember the landing in Airplane!? There was a fire engine with a dalmatian waiting for it. The "is it safe?" with the dentist is a direct reference to Dustin Hoffman's Marathon Man. You must see that. I ask my dentist that every time I visit. ROFL Like the dog was a recurring character, you need to see Ernest Goes To Camp. It's great and there's a golf cart in the background during the most inappropriate scenes. You'd love it. Be well, Greg
