Hey Everyone! I hope you're not having a case of the Mondays! 😉 I trust everyone is doing well!? We have been covered in smoke here due to a massive forest fire for the last few days, but hopefully it will dissipate soon! Guess it just means more time to watch movies inside! he he he!

This week, we are starting to get into the winners from our last polls! It's going to be a fun month! If you don't know or are new here (Hi! Welcome!) The Poll winners were A Fish Called Wanda, Time Bandits, The Abyss and Sideways. There is a debate on which Abyss I should watch. I am leaning towards Theatrical because it's my go-to when I am doing a first-time watch. I am still undecided.

TNG Tuesday - S3xE5 "The Bonding". TNG continues to surprise me with its emotional depth!

Wednesday - A Fish Called Wanda (1988). This movie was a complete blast! I am so happy you voted for it, and it won! Awesome to see more John Cleese and Michael Palin!

Thursday - Hoping to get Snatch YT edit early access this week. Copyright has been a thing with this one!

AFI Friday - #43 Midnight Cowboy (1969) You watch this and you understand why it is on the AFI list. Some amazing performances! Can't wait to share!

I am so excited to share the movies we have going on this month! I have been really inspired by the films we have watched this year. Someone asked me yesterday where they should look for good movies nowadays. I said, THE CLASSICS or anything pre-2000s LOL

Thank you so much for all your support on Patreon! and YouTube! It means the world to me, truly, every week to have you here and watching movies with me! Let me know what your excited for down below!

As far as 'The Abyss', I think the extended edition is better as it fleshes things out that were omitted entirely or hardly touched on. We saw the original movie in the theatre and were left with unanswered questions, so do consider watching the extended edition. Just my $.02. 😁

Sorry about the smokey air Ames! Stay safe ✌️

Jon Anderson

A Fish Called Wanda and Time Bandits? Both from the Monty Python stable - you're really spoiling us!

Curtis Martin

You may be the first reactor to react to an X rated movie! X was actually intended for adults as in grown ups, but the MPAA forgot to trademark it. At the time, no one imagined that someone would release actual porn. But then came Deep Throat and the X rating was now synonymous with porn. Today, Midnight Cowboy would be rated R. I would not suggest attempting to react to Deep Throat. 😳

Reggie

I was hoping you'd do a reaction to Midnight Cowboy. The performances in that movie are stellar. Looking forward to it!

Catchermag

I am pre-2000, and therefore, A CLASSIC

Monte Durbin

I see you'll be watching Midnight Cowboy. See if you can find the scene that Forest Gump copied where Forest and Lt Dan were in NYC together.

Haha, good answer to the movie rec question! Obv there have been lots of great movies since 2000, but understanding the classic foundations lets film fans appreciate modern cinema in a deeper, more interesting way. Great week ahead!

Toc

What a week, what a lineup.....and what an answer to that question! I'm grinning like a pumpkin right now!

"I said, THE CLASSICS or anything pre-2000s LOL"....or the converse when someone asks about any good movies after 2000 I always say that's a trick question, THERE AREN'T ANY!!! Right on Ames!!

Happy Star Trek Day, Ames! 🖖 It was actually Star Trek Day in Canada two days before the U.S. But either way, Happy Star Trek Day. 🖖

Scott

Ames, I'd be happy watching you watch paint drying or a car rusting so may! Fish Called Wanda is one of my faves. For you: 🌹😍🥰

Good week. I will watch all 3 reactions. I am curious how you take this Kevin Kline character. A recent movie that I like is "Past Lives” (2023) [Korean-Canadian director (Celine Song)] (AFI Top 10 Movie of the Year).

Steven Ortiz

For The Abyss in my opinion the theatrical is just ok. In the director's cut you'll notice so much of the movie cut out. The director cut in my opinion is the way to go. The Abyss in the director's cut is a damn good movie!

Marshmallow Venom (실리콘 밸리)

I haven't seen Midnight Cowboy in 30 years, so I can't wait! Dustin Hoffman gives one of the all-time great performances as Ratso Rizzo.

Gary Poussard

I'd honestly say the theatrical cut is fine .😀

To continue on with the discussion of the "Special Edition" of the Abyss. Yes, I am the only one on the planet that thinks the "extra" scenes of the SE make the experience worse. But try to think of it like this: You can never "unsee" those extra scenes if it's your first exposure to the movie. If you see the Special Edition as your first time, that will forever be the way the movie unfolds in your mind. And if you don't like the extra stuff; too bad, that's your forever image of the movie. However, if you first watch the Theatrical, you'll have a solid mental foundation on which to build. Then you can watch the SE afterwards, and if you like those extra scenes, great--you can then add those to your existing impression of the movie. But if you don't like the extra stuff, then great. You can then mentally revert to your first impression of the movie.

Jay Davis

I'm watchin' here! I'm watchin' here!

VivendoBem

Eeew! Avoid the green ones, they're not ripe yet.

Flounder

Please…. I hope you are able to watch Sex, Lies, and Videotape before the end of the year. I’ll shut up for another few weeks now.

Hold Down A

Not 100% sure I will be doing a reaction to that movie because of its content, maybe just a review, sorry

Jerry Wilcox

Have you reacted to Slap Shot? Great hokey movie!

Retro Maven

From what I understand she has but it is way down on the Edit list. But I keep a hopin'....
