A great episode a lot of people skip, tng is an investment and opting to jump to the key or most popular episodes some great ones like this often fall through the cracks.

Lol, the excitement when Picard was gearing up towards an 'Engage" was so funny. Regarding the Jeffries tubes. These are service way corridors or crawl spaces to access the ship systems. They have varied in appearance and size over the years. During TOS they were named Jeffries Tubes behind the scenes, probably by the crew to distinguish sets. Named after the Enterpise designer and TOS art director Matt Jeffries. The name stuck and was used by writers and designers onwards. This is actually the first time they used the phrase on screen, thereby make the name canon.

A good episode. I say average for S3, which is good. Enjoyed your reaction.

TNG excels at grappling with ethical issues, and this episode highlights a dilemma somewhat reminiscent of John Rambo in First Blood (1982). Just like Roga Danar in the TNG episode, Rambo was an elite soldier trained to infiltrate enemy lines and use lethal force to accomplish his mission. In times of war, creating elite teams of highly-trained and lethal soldiers is a logical and practical approach. However, integrating these warriors back into society, once the war is over, is hugely problematic. The elite training can't just be switched off. "Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win." - John Rambo Sadly, society is rarely willing to commit to providing soldiers with the support they need when they return home from war, not only to survive but to thrive. Instead, they are often given token support or ignored. Such behavior is unconscionable. A very thought-provoking episode and a great reaction, Ames! (Although I liked the episode, I think an additional fifteen minutes could have given it greater depth and a more powerful impact.)
