STAR TREK: TNG S3xE17 Sins of a Father

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Kahlest: "I am dead. A long time dead." It's not literal but rather Klingon-poetic speak. She's alive, obvs, and everyone but Worf knows she's alive. Just a regular Klingon citizen, basically. But when Mogh and his family were wiped out, or effectively so, she had nothing left to live for. Waiting to die in disgrace, basically, much like when our Klingon buddy from the Pagh was talking about his father back in A Matter of Honor. Another really great episode. It's easy to see why S3 is so many folk's favourite, there really are so many good episodes and so very few weak ones. See you in the next one, A🖖👍

I LOVE how much you're invested in this series now! There's so much introduced here when it comes to Klingon politics with so many layers. Qo'noS itself is an interesting homeworld with 24th Century tech yet the design of the cities are so Medieval.

Ive been waiting for this one!!I literally lol'd during the intro when you said "i wonder if worfs gonna have anything to say". Yeah worf has basically been excommunicated from the empire, forced to live with the shame of Moghs "betrayal". By far my favorite episode of season 3 and one of my favorite of star trek as a whole. Growing the relationship of the crew and showing why Picard is amazing as a character. Another Ron D Moore classic!! So many huge episodes so far, the depth and complexity far exceeding the adventure if the week style of TOS to me is what makes TNG on another level. Take some of the episides this season alone, the bonding, the high ground, yesterdays enterprise, the offspring and this one, if you can get past the scifi aspect, great stories truly anyone can find intriguing.

A big and deserved shout out to the late great Tony Todd, the actor who played Kurn. Not enough can be said about a 40 year career with over 200 roles. His most famous role being the original Candyman. His notoriety in the Final Destination films is also well known. He died one year ago.

Silver Machine

Great episode. The Klingons have come a long way from The Trouble with Tribbles.

He and his family are now dishonored, yes. Also, you are correct about the actor who played the leader Klingon “K’mpec”. He played a different Klingon in Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier. Side note: notice how the forehead ridges among Klingons all look different with different patterns, except in families. Worf and his brother have the same ridges

Worf choosing discommendation is apparently worse than death to him. Thus, Worf truly sacrificed for the Klingon Empire (to avoid civil war) and for his brother. Enjoyed your reaction. To me, the first half of E17 is analogous to Riker serving on the Klingon ship in the excellent S2 episode A Matter of Honor, which you alluded to Riker eating the Klingon food. As for the second half of E17 = Klingon stuff/politics and yet another example of Picard backing a crew member. "I can think of no one I would rather have at my side."

"I don't understand this | Klingon | Court | BULLSHIT" is the line of the week lol
