Happy Saturday!!!

Feel the Rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it's bobsled time!

WOW! This story blew me away! I had so much fun, I was inspired and emotionally wrecked, but in such an uplifting way! Loved this!

Enjoy!

Cool Running (1993)

Can't remember how long it has been since I saw that movie - must've been at least some 10 years or so. It popped up in my mind two years ago when we were playing the soundtrack with our wind band (geting the complicated rythms right with all 60 band members was quite challenging). The story of the Jamaican team really was incredible! I mean, not only did they qualify, but were just 1.2 sec slower than eventual world champions Switzerland in the first run. Nowadays this would be impossible considering how professional the sport and equipment have become! I loved that film as a kid and still like it today, there are just some annoying details which I dislike now, i.e. portraying the (East) Germans as the antagonists (how refreshing!) and the overall hatred towards the Jamaican team which was just put in the movie for drama and had no sense in reality. Fun fact: Even though the Jamaican bob sleigh team never won a medal at the Olympics, they won Gold at the World Wok Racing Championships in Germany in 2014. A German TV event where celebrities run down a bobsleigh track in a (modified) Chinese Wok.
