I was off my rocker for the first 10 mins, guessing about this episode like a dummy. I liked this episode a lot! A massive payoff for some characters but no spoil-ies for you know who!

I'm glad you liked this episode. I know people have mixed feelings about Wesley (and I also think they could've handled his arc better at times throughout the series). But this episode was just fantastic in terms of the emotional moments -- obviously mostly between Wes and Picard, but also the crew's concern for them. In terms of the B-plot, yes, it's often annoying how the producers felt obligated to put in a secondary crisis when it's not needed. However in this case, I can kind of see how it's important, since they needed to present a plausible excuse as to why the Enterprise couldn't immediately go searching for the lost shuttlecraft. I also liked the additional drama of the crew being torn between the "greater good" of the planet they're saving, versus saving Wes and Picard.

Probably not the absolute strongest of eps but I still really enjoy it. Some very good moments, Picard and Wesley's time together was really sweet, and a good sci-fi problem for Wesley to have to solve his way out of. A really nice send-off for Wes before heading off to the Academy. See you next week, A 🖖

I really like the moments between Picard and Wesley. I’ve had mentors who I wanted to make proud of me, so that really hits for me

I already told you how I saw Wil Wheaton last week at the Stand By Me showing and Q&A. Cool coincidence this was the next ep.
