Donna Reed, Academy Award winning actress for "From Here to Eternity", had her own TV show in the early 1960's. She was the Mom everybody wished they had, beautiful, caring, etc., just like the Mom that Melinda Dillon played in "A Christmas Story." As a young Hollywood actress in WWII, she supported our troops in her free time, and even maintained a large "pen-pal" correspondence with appreciative servicemen, who were devoted to her. All Honor to Her. (Wouldn't it have been ironic if Jimmy Stewart had been a pen-pal?)

Usually she played "The Girl-Next-Door." She was a WAC love interest in "See Here, Private Hargrove," and a Navy Wave Nurse in "They Were Expendable."
